“Dawg, are you fuckin’ kiddin’?” (c) Kanye
joint with cudi is tight
This shirt, smh. Why does Jay-z always have to give us a “reminder” of him being in the arguement for being one of the best.
ticket to after-life in hell sold separately?
what’s with the leaks now adays??? is this the real JAY-Z album.
That shirt is corny as a mufugga.
This nigga jay is so insecure…
Man. I’m just glad I’m not the only one who thinks these are corny as eff.
the rip is real fools
damn 11 sept already leaked, probably cuz jigga wanted an haters’ stfu.
8th sept, rae’s ish still protected…Wu Ohh ! Only Built on the way
fam, any dude wearing “who gonna run this town tonite” on his chest gets smacked by Jesus with an eternal No Homo.
That mofo better come with a (II) on the sleeve or something for that questionable buffoonery
Just finished the album, man, to me it’s tight. It sounds very futuristic. The thing I can appreciate about it is that it’s an album, a coherent effort. It’s not the type of album you can pick a song off of and just let it go… he’s trying to make a larger point about what he thinks rap music should be. He brags a lot in this, you can tell the criticism is getting to him, he doesn’t really sound confident. The production to me is unbelievable, I haven’t heard something so sonically different than the current landscape like this from a major label artist since Common and Electric Circus? maybe? I don’t know if I’ve heard it done so well since Outkast’s run. The value he puts on authenticity sort of limits his subject matter, but it’s probably for the better, because it’s more grown up. To me, this is the album he was trying to put together for Kingdom Come, but it is so much nicer, a little more edgier, way more focused. The tracks just flow… it’s nice, on first listen it doesn’t hit as hard as the Black Album or American Gangster, but it’s close.
Astugfirullah, the day a mere mortal declares himself G_d is a lost soul indeed.
Let’s not get carried away Shawn Carter, you are quite clearly suffering from an acute case of the Rakim syndrome.
Know your limits Master Wayne, no your limits!
^^^
LMAO
I’m just wondering if sucking off Jigga is required prior to or after purchasing this tee.
Straight up, this shit is so lame.
This is akin to the Five Percent theology, only crasser and with less sincerity.
But if you can fill up Madison Square Garden with thousands of people calling you “Hova” and holding up whatever paganist gang sign you tell ‘em to and cart off about $400 milli along the way, you might believe you’re a god, too.
from first listen through I gotta say this cd kind of reminds me of graduation, kinda futuristic but soulful at the same time, but it def has some classic material on it, and I dunno what everyone is talking about that reminder track is haaaard
Gay.
can’t wait to see all the negative feedback on the album, everyone is too hypercritical. try just enjoying something for once.
@Black Canseco, when an emcee has dellusions of deity designs, he really should take a step back.
I fear that Jay-Z is going firmly doing this route, to me he is more Hoffa and Hova.
A case in example is KRS One, said he wants to start off a new religon with ‘Gospel of Hip Hop’. Heck he is evening finalising his very own holy book. The Temple of Hip Hop, no thanks Kris, but for those interested have a read of this:-
http://allhiphop.com/stories/news/archive/2009/08/20/21903171.aspx
typo more Hoffa than HOVA.
Anyone who cops this shirt should change their name to “Stanley”
@Paw
I hear you Paw, but worship and idolatry’s a slippery slope…
Peopel kiss your but long enough you start to turn your back on folk so they can do it easier… Every DJ in the country calls him Hova… We’re cheered Takeover with its “Me—God MC, Jay Hova” line as pure dopeness (most did anyway).
And granted, MIMS didn’t have the songs to sustain his career but no one stood up and said “No MIMS, Music is not a savior. Music isn’t inherently holy. Hiphop is not Christ.”
Nah we just let him claim Music as a savior until he ran out of hits.
As for the KRS thing… You had to see this coming. KRS believes in hiphop more so than any artist I’ve ever seen. He lives for it.
Looking back, not long after he died, there was a Church of Cobain for a minute–remember that? A full on religion that worshipped Kurt Cobain…
Hova, Kris, Kurt… Eh, whaddo I know?
My dad has an old album that says Eric Clapton is god.
@Canseco, Jay-Z is walking a tightrope here, his ascention over the years has been awe inspiring indeed, but one false move here and he slips.
You are right about that line from The Takeover, but the gentleman needs to take a step back and have a moment of clarity.
When a person’s mind becomes clouded with a god complex that is when it gets messy. This t-shirt isn’t doing him any favours either, it’s kind of tacky, whether it’s a bold statement on his part or made to offend, only he can say for sure.
Rakim will be stepping up to the plate soon with his own rendition of the god complex, but men who declare themselves god or allow themselves to be declared god by others, pay a heavy penalty in the end. Neither party has authority over me, they are both flesh and blood, in the end they will age and perish like all mortal human beings.
The KRS One thing is tricky, he is without a doubt one of my fave emcees, and yes it definitely was coming, but it’s kind of creepy, he’s got the whole proclamation of declaration type charter, plus the temple of hip hop and now a ‘holy book’ of his own. The man has contradicted himself so many times over the years, makes you wonder what is his true agenda.
A full on religon that worshipped Kurt Cobain? What the heck?!?!?!
Don’t remember that one, however, it does not suprise me the least bit.
I don’t want to get caught up in that whole conspiracy theory hoobla, but if the illuminati does truly exist then these sound like the types of designs they would weave.
there is one God. Seventh letter. get this corn ball, camel cash shit out of here.
from the stuff i’ve heard it seems solid, definitely not kingdom come bad; not checking the whole thing out till it comes out though
@Paw,
Agreed… As a Christian, I’ve always struggled with the fact that some of my favorite lyricists coming up were loud n proud 5% percenters…
jay’s another story tho. I think he’s closer to where so many folks are today–God’s whatever you make him/her/it/them out to be.
That is, until you get in so much trouble that you might reconsider.
hard to tell a cat that can buy what he wants based on the words he speaks that he’s wrong.
Oprah don’t believe in God either. She believes in that eckhart tolle book… New Earth it’s called.
hard to tell somebody with $2.5 Billion she don’t what she talkin about.
@Black Canseco, money eh? These individuals proclaim themselves G-d status because of monetary and material success, that is a world that I never want to be a part of.
I’m happy for Jay-Z and his success, but come on man, whatever happened to the good ole days, when a t-shirt was a man in crosshairs ie Public Enemy or a Wu Tang logo t-shirt?
This Jay-Z t-shirt here, it’s like it’s not entertainment anymore, comes across as if he is reaching out into some type of religous sphere or something.
I’m not saying that I would do it nor do I promote it, but I fear that sporting attire like this could potentially result in the wearer catching a few ice grills and maybe even a beatdown.
Anyway, I’m out, peace, been cool exchanging thoughts with you on the matter.
Psalms 82:6 “I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High”. “But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes”
@paw,
yup-yup… can’t disagree witcha.
I used to get these promo shirts in the mail all the time……yeah Jay-z made this shirt in his basement and wants you to support him……I’m surprised people would reach so far.
anyway, This is a damn classic if i ever heard one. this album fits right after black album…..amazing. Those waiting until it drops, I can’t wait to hear what yall think.
