TC
TC is to The Smoking Section like trees are to branches and cliffs are to avalanches. He lives for the funk as well as ensuring Hip-Hop culture always has a definitive voice. Or something like that. Sounded good though, right? He's on Twitter if you're oh-so inclined @The_TSS_TC.
Is it wrong to love Keri even though she can be a bit triflin’

You’ve been absent for months but couldn’t resist a swipe @ Keri huh Boogz?
and hello to you to TC … i been working so i havent been on here in EONS…
I think Asher may have gotten a raw deal/fell victim to too much generated hype.
^^^
Bigtime.
yup….still garbage
^ that’s the thing. I didn’t listen to him until after the hype had blown over. If you listen to mat’l from right before and after the album dropped, dude’s actually nice. Every time I see his stage performance mentioned, it gets good reviews. Thereby I say, something in the milk ain’t clean on this one. And I have to point the finger @ the label for “thinking” they knew how to market him.
the green effect mixtape 2 on the way !
Asher’s not that awful, but he’s not that interesting either. He fell victim to a lotta hype that he didn’t ask for but he personally did nothing to protect himself against.
There’s this deep-seeded myth that most harbor that somehow white artists have the potential to be more interesting and compelling than black/brown artists on the strength of nothing more than how they look.
It’s like, “A white rapper/R+B singer? Clearly he’s gonna do something different and unique and more sophisticated–let’s check him out.”
Every white baller ain’t Larry Bird. And every white boy with a mic ain’t Em. Even Em is a cliche now.
Asher might get enough benefit to actually become interesting and compelling–more so than the average black street cat gets. But if he doesn figure out something beyond–I’m a smart ass white boy with some college/suburbia in me, then he’ll sink faster than Bubba Sparxxx’s 3rd album.
yeah well props for being the first rapper to make out with a huge chick in a music video. keri was lookin and singing great. but damn not feelin it.
its awful.
I think dude is dope, but he stretched a little too far when it came to his album.
Emcees should go back to “two turntables and a mic” for a while. Get rid of the R&B hooks, and all the gimmicks.
Remove Asher from the video, put it on mute, and this would be the dopest Keri Hilson video I never heard.
asher never should have even thought about making this song… he has to stay with that y.o.u song with slick rick, not this bullshit
a) Asher = Jin without the struggle and having to prove himself (an Asian friend recently asked about Jin)
b) Most A&R’s are wack (by most, I actually mean all). That is why you get the 4080 Rap + R&B on the hook combo no matter what. They will always throw in Ne-No, Keri, Chris Beat-Em-Down-Brown, T-Pain (whom I think does a pretty great job on hooks), and any other “hot” R&B artist of the moment to do the chorus. (Who is it this week again?)
c) He is rather gimmicky. He rode that college thing harder than Kanye (II). And I am not even sure if he finished college. At least Ye let you know that he did not… lol.
d) I did not watch the video. Not sure that I ever shall.
asher sucks
Asher is decent on the mic. The label shouldn’t have tried to market him as an internet sensation when he already had a deal before they promoted him as such.
in 7/8month, asher’s album : 150k copies ! that’s pretty good for now.
just hope he will step his game up for the next year
I don’t see Asher Roth as someone who will be staying around long. This song is funny, and that’s the main reason I’d listen; but funny gets old and it doesn’t make me want to buy his record. I do like Keri Hilson on it, even though I think she’s better on her own >> http://bit.ly/1PXxKf
The song is cool, the video is funny; definitely not my favorite, but it could be worse.
