Considering 95% of what I read is supplied by a screen, it’s a rarity for me to bring up anything hardcover. Live from New York: An Uncensored History of Saturday Night Live, however, is well worth the mention.
Inherited upon switching homes, I’ve found this collection of past contributors/cast members’ backstage memoirs perfect for keeping around and about the crib. Having literally grown up watching the show, and following the actors’ progression over the years, the drug-induced, behind-the-scenes details delivered in this book leave me reluctant to put it down. The transcript is delivered real-time, progressing from the POV of important players,’ frequently featuring gems like the one below, a classic couplet of Chris Farley stories courtesy of longtime head writer Fred Wolf.
