Zion I’s “Coastin” includes all the things I currently deem necessary in song.

Syths are a must. Simple piano chords. A two-part hook, preferably sung by a female. Heavy drums, with wide reverb on the snare. Head-nodding low bass. Synths, again. And, most of all, a positive concept.

If the audience outside The Bay could finally recognize the depth of this veteran producer/MC combo, they might have a hit on their hands.
