Weeds is a not well-known TV show on Showtime that just started up its fifth season a few weeks ago.
Oh yea, by “not well-known” I sarcastically mean “wildly popular show that I just got into so go ahead and give me a late pass.” Over the last week and a half I’ve mowed through the first three seasons and now in the middle of watching the fourth.
Needless to say this is a brilliantly written and cleverly acted series that you need in your life. During my recent marathon run of episode watching, I caught this monologue that is a far cry from Theo and Heathcliff’s game of Monopoly from about 20 years ago.
Another reason I love the show is the stellar music choices that set the scenes perfectly. Usually I could give two pumps about indie music and Pitchforkian tunes, but I’ve been playing the first season’s soundtrack pretty consistently over the last week.
Don’t be alarmed if the opening theme makes you want to burst out in a rendition of “Little Boxes” while sounding like the candle holder from Beauty and the Beast.

WEEDS replaced my Wire withdrawal! But Ive been watching since season 1.
the show is great and this last episode was killer…. the opening title scene is always different and cleverly done.
i forgot who but a rapper used the weeds theme song for the intro to his mixtape.
ive been on this show since day 1.. heard its slippin tho :( mondays episode was classic
I stopped watching it halfway through Season 4. I didn’t enjoy it as much without Conrad and his folks.
With a title like “Weeds” you’d expect me to be a fan, but I haven;’t watched a single episode. A friend of mines put me on to this scene a while back though. Brilliant writing.
Weeds fell off the deep end last season…a suburban mom dealer was good and believable…but that mexican cartel tunnel bullshit was a bit over the top and caused me to stop taking interest…meh…great from seasons 1-3
I’ll start watching tonight.

That’s how I felt, but I went back and gave S4 a chance. It wasn’t that bad. Definitely good enough to keep watching. S5 is weak sauce so far though. I haven’t seen this week’s episode though.
I feel the same about season 4 it was a dissapointment. I think they lost touch with what the show meant. Everything before the mexican cartel stuff was plausible now its just kinda getting more and more ridiculous.
All my uncles were like that.
I stopped watching when all the black people bounced.
i just finished season 2. waiting on season 3 to get here from netflix.
