I swear, I always miss the good shit. I had to shake the spot early.
Seeing as how major this footage is, I WAS gonna kindly & humbly submit my paltry Flip cam footage of M.O.P. & Slaughterhouse, which pales in comparison…
*walks away, shuffling feet, with head hanging low*
hows he gonna perform NY State Of Mind while rockin a LA fitted?
SMH
They also did Phone Tap and Sugar Hill. He brought out Styles P and Pharoahe Monch as well.
But I just seen M.O.P but Slaughterhouse was cool
Ya Know My Steelo !
that nigga on the Conga drums is wreckin shit!!!
Wow he did not forget his lyrics. lol
I have footage of those performances; just have to post it. Am I the only one who thought this year’s show was a huge step down from last year. How do you have MOP (one of the best performances of the day in my opinion), Slum Village, Buckshot, and Raekwon/RZA on the “paid dues” second stage and then have Knaan, Charli 2na, The Knux, and Tech Nine on the main stage. Then to make matters worst they scheduled them in a way that you had to pick and choose which acts you were going to miss. Like if you saw Common’s set then you missed Slum village. The crowd was definitely thin this year!
Nas’s performance was pretty good, he messed up some lyrics and his energy was kind of ehhhh. Bringing out AZ was a huge highlight. I was VERY disapointed in The Roots performance. I don’t know if it’s seeing them so many times, maybe the fact that there last two albums were lackluster, or maybe it’s the new Jimmy Fallon gig. Whatever the reason their performance was pretty dry and rather short (although I heard that ?uestlove put in a great 2 hour MJ tribute set at a local DC spot that night).
Also KRS-One was pretty annoying (this is coming from a native from the BX); He just droned on and on. Overall I give the show a 5.5/10, with the best performances as follows:
1. Common (shocked me too writing that)- was a nice touch having trugoy come out to the do The Bizness
2. MOP- that was a damn shame they weren’t on the main stage
3. Nas - Did most of Illmatic and had AZ, Pharoah Monch, and Styles P come out during his set to replace Damien Marley.
4. Busta Rhymes- had the most energy and got the crowd AMPED up!
They had better come through with a better line up next year!

I was so unimpressed with the line up this year that I didn’t even bother going to the DC show like last year. I hoping for a better line up for 2010.
Regarding the video, Nas sounded a little better than he did last year. Dude was absolutely strugglin’ to catch his breath at all and made the crowd spit half his verses while pounding a fifth on stage.
With the economy the way it is, I had to make a decision, and I’m not too upset that I sat this Rock the Bells out. RTB 2010.
Sadly I can’t see many groups that they could add that would make it the hot ticket. I can’t stand to see nas again. Maybe Outkast????
Illmatics (still) the best rap record ever made asfarasimconcerend
I had to leave when Styles P performed but DAMN…Pharaohe Monch!? Oh well.
And I was severely disappointed in The Roots performance.
I’m also surprised that Common, yes, had the best performance with Busta gettin the crowd the most hyped during his performance. I’m pretty blown I couldn’t see Slum Village and missed most of Slaugherhouse. Too much going back and forth made the entire experience bleeeehhhh.
The Roots performance was so meh, i was mad i chose them over Raekwon. I saw slaughterhouse they where dope as shit. It was two Douchebags holding up a Wu-tang t-shirt duing The Slaughterhouse performance. Techn9ne was cool. He was the first main stage artist to get the crowd rocking. Nas ripped it. Az came out and that was crazy. I enjoyed it though
