The other early face of the Titans, Eddie George speaks about his former teammate. Saw this on local ABC affiliate WKRN last night and I think it was actually a little longer because Eddie talked about Steve’s composure and leadership, McNair being the first person to call him when the local media drug both George & his mother through the mud for a D.U.I., and the early Oilers/Titans years.
Meanwhile, local CBS affiliate WTVF, Hope Hines & the rest of their “esteemed” broadcasting team continue to pitch dirt. Instead of following the lead of other stations, opting to focus on Air McNair’s sporting legacy & contributions to the community as a whole, WTVT has chosen the low road, making repeat mentions of the circumstances & details.

Rest in peace to a good dude.
Yes, Gotty, your pops is right. He should have sent that bitch a text message.
damn shame…
I’m sorry, but the gentleman was having an extra marital affair.
Situations like these can end up very ugly indeed, this isn’t the first or the last time that an episode like this will occur, due to passions, hatred and infidelity.
Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.
nobody gives a fuck that he was having an affair, the man got murdered show some respect
@Mark, actually there will be people out there who DO GIVE A FUCK that he was having an affair.
Yes a man was murdered, and that is tragic.
But there is a morality lesson in this unfortunate episode, he is getting coverage because he is a sports personality.
But everyday people go through shit like this too.
I know of this woman, who found that her husband was cheating on her, she doused him with petrol whilst he slept and burned him alive.
Like I said there is a morality lesson in situations like these.
I’ll take an improbable guess & say that most people in the city could care less about the affair. Yeah, it makes you wince of sorts…but it’s still McNair. EVERYBODY has flaws, broken a legal or moral law, etc. Nobody’s immune.
But @ the end of the day, there’s really no way that I could personally hold one act up against all the positives he did around here as well as the pride & joy he brought to the city.
^ that’s what I’m screamin’ though! Many people benefitted from him! He was NOT a liability to society! Now his 4 sons are fatherless, cuz some jumpoff didn’t realize she was just that, and nothing more. Sad
@Gotty, remember, don’t play with matches, they burn.
You are right, none of us are without flaw, but alas sometimes we can carry out actions which may appear to be small from the outset, but they can destroy what one has built up over a life time.
The benefit of hindsight is a wonderful thing indeed, but some don’t get the chance to put this in effect, like Mr McNair, he was only 36 years old.
Some mistakes, we often wish we never stepped into in the first place.
lovely page, eh!
