The Roots’ Back !
Does it matter? It’s not like IDJ is gonna promote them properly anyway.
Of course not. That’s Jimmy Fallon’s job.
this ish is dope but their live version of this is the ultra banger!!!
Dope song; but Def Jam won’t promote this. Maybe if Quest gets a texturized Mohawk and start rocking skinny jeans they will get promotion. lol
even if u put 1 million in promotion
roots won’t be multi platinium so
Multi platinum?? hell only TI, Jay-z, Em, Kanye, and 50 are doing that in hip hop. With solid promotion the roots can go gold+
I likes. I likes.
Gold? Did you say “gold”… “Gold” ain’t been in fashion since King Tee was still hot.
Nah, if you on a major, 500K is not a good look. but having a mini-showcase 5 days a week as they do courtesy of Fallon, will help.
Think about Branford Marsailis and Kevin Eubanks… They’re among the more successful Jazz artists in recent years, thanks largely to the platform the Tonight Show afforded them.
They drop albums, get spins on radio, tour like mad… all on the strength of being the “dudes from the band on that show”.
Quest and Tariq are no dummies…
they’re gonna do all they can (i hope) to go platinum for the first time in their career. i dont think any of their previous releases sold more than 850K in a single release year.
Yeah, being on Fallon 5 x a week is more promo than they’ve had their entire career.
This is good, it sounds more upbeat which is a good change from the downers that the other albums have been.
Saw them perform this a few weeks ago… I liked it better live, but am glad to have the dl. Thanks.
Philadelphia Hip-Hop is Back
I agree being on tv is the best promotion the roots will ever get; but in the age of leaks and downloads. How many sales are they going to lose.
GREAT!

Good call. This is a dope track. Word is they have about 40 more of these to choose from for the new album. Double disc anyone?
I think taking up residency on Jimmy Fallon was just about the shrewdest move The Roots have made. The band have always earned most of their money from touring, rather than album sales, which has given them a degree of independence from the music industry. But this Fallon gig means they get paid without that punishing 200-300 shows per year schedule (The Roots redefined “hardworking”!) – plus they get to showcase their immense talents before a national audience. That exposure might just be the real “Tipping Point” The Roots need to secure their place in musical history.
The new single is dope!
That’s somewhere between James Brown and Curtis Mayfield. All good, good, good!
The Roots produce good music and it a shame how they don’t get the same respect or credit as the big hip hop artist. Their recent album “Rising down” all track was raw but I hope they sell a lot. Plus the lack of promotion Roots need to find a creative way to promote their music.
