Apparently Black People Love Chicken. Thanks Korea.
AUDIO By David D. on July 11, 2009 at 9:36 am“Apparently Black people are genetically predisposed to liking chicken!” - Dave Chappelle
I’ve been pretty ambivalent about the America/Korea conflict in the news. But now…this is war. When Barry gets a word of this commercial, he’s gonna send troops to regulate.
However, this commercial provides a rare and golden opportunity for you to ask yourself a couple of questions:
1. Did you see him turn watermelon to chicken and ask “Wait, can they really do that?
2. Do you secretly wish you had a magical Asian in your basement that could turn inanimate objects to a delicious 10-piece?
If you answered yes to both of those questions, then you are perfectly normal. Carry on.

wow that’s what they think about us
This is the most racist thing I’ve seen…. this morning.
The racism is killing me….LMAO
yea it’s racism now but if u watch the thang about an african tribu it’s not racist.. it’s just an african tribu thus with black people of course
if they wanna play the racist game yea it’s racist but it’s maybe just a ‘funny’ publicity (i don’t laugh but it’s the goal of this pub i think) after that if they put this for a secret subliminal racist message, the ‘censure office’ in korea MUST to do his job (loool if they have one). U greumsee what i greumsmean..! PEACE
America and Soth Korea get along fine. North Koreans ain’t eating no chicken … fried or otherwise.
Funny ish!!
it was so racist that i could do was laugh (c) Dave Chappelle
a) Why’s he tiptoeing around deserted beaches in the first place?
b) Surely his time would be better spent harnessing his Christlike ability to create chicken out of thin air to combat world hunger.
Honestly, we don’t have many Koreans & Asian-Americans around this side so I had no idea that there was a long-standing hate b/w Blacks & Koreans. My guy from LA was explaining bits & pieces of the culture out there & put me on.

CHICKAAAA!
Gotty, Koreans hate everybody….
Just remember this, Gotty: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latasha_Harlins
hmmm the korean/black thing was mainly in LA, i live in SF and it trickled a lil bit up here, but I’m korean and i never really noticed it. Of course, my inner crew was pretty multi cultured so maybe i just never paid any attention. I just remember i had to take a class on it in college.
You DO realize this is South Korea we’re talking about, right? Not America, where these social stigmas of racism exist, but in South Korea where they…don’t. You see, what they learn most from blacks is from our media- which is relatively eurocentric in nature. To them, this isn’t offensive to blacks or racist, because their culture sees things differently than Americans, who know better.
In short, its ignorance that killed the cat. Remember: It’s not racist unless its true.
there really ain’t no black folks in korea….unless you count washed up rappers…..teddy riley, coolio…a couple other folks went to korea once their careers were done here…..its like what the Japanese Baseball league used to be like…only for rappers
Redman is Korean, you stupid foolios!
It’s definitely racist, as it trots out the ol’ cannibal tribe stereotype, however, I’m not sure that Koreans are aware of the black people/fried chicken stereotype. In the minds of the commercials producers, I don’t think fried chicken necessarily has a racist connotation.
although i don’t know for sure one way or the other, it seems like most people who claim redman is half-korean, just have that one song where he raps in korean (poorly) as evidence. so i’m pretty skeptical
Wait - Can someone explain to me what’s supposed to be racist about this?
@Don King, my thoughts exactly.
It’s like the other day when certain folks passed comment abput how Loon looked Al Qaeda with his beard. I’m man enough to not catch feelings with regards to fagrant comments like that.
Gee-Wiz, some folk seriously turned Ralph Tresvant.
Oh look, how they lampoon African Tribes, oh look, they think we all like chicken, oh look he turned that water melon into 11 pieces of chicken.
What are the Koreans saying? Boo fucking hoo!
@Ben H, he is part Korean, he declared this during a concert in Seoul back in 2002.
i am introducing my korean gf to the wire… she was slightly offended that every scene w/ asians has koreans… koreans apparently own everything in baltimore that stringer bell doesn’t…

Wow, that was so racist that I’m embarrassed to be Korean.
I don’t know whether to apologize or just facepalm.
Remember though, not all Koreans think alike, just like not all black people think alike. There will always be some who are ignorant.
i live in south korea and first off, kyo chon chicken is delicious.
they eat more fried chicken and watermelon here than any black person in america and that’s the truth, so take that commercial with a grain of salt
I don’t think that this is racist perse unless you think of it that way, but it was a very stupid idea to make a kind of commercial with all these implications where it is obvious that people would react in this way. I for one don’t see black people as chicken “lovers” cuz i LOVE chicken too. There is no reason to judge an entire race of people bcuz this is not the view of an entire race of people. Ignorance sucks =P. PEACE!
