Remember 2002 when Nappy Roots & Anthony Hamilton hit the scene together with “Po’ Folks”? Then they followed it up in 2005 with Wooden Leather’s “Sick ‘N Tired.”
Sticking to the script, N.C. & Kentucky hooked up again for their second single off The Humdinger, entitled “Down ‘N Out.” A bluesy with a lightly laced harmonica, “Down ‘N Out” is a “hold on, be strong” song sparked by A.Ham’s crooning & uplifting verses by the Nappy word-slingers.

Here’s the iTunes bonus cut off of Twista’s Category F5 which is in stores now. It’s a K-Town party as Kanye splits double duties with Twista on the mic and No I.D. on the boards. Just I’m on the production alone, I’m glad it didn’t make the the album because it doesn’t fit sonically with the rest of the album. Dope nonetheless.

What a difference 6 months can make. Regardless of whether the stars were aligned or back room deals took place, Ace Hood was poised for the short track to success. Backed by DJ Khaled, Rick Ross & the Def Jam machine, his inclusion in XXL’s ‘08 Top Ten Freshman Class, coincided with the release of his debut album Gutta. Looking to build upon the tepid response to it, he’s already back with his sophomore effort Ruthless. After the expeditious completion of his freshman year, it’s time for him to declare a major and stop the exploratory nature of being undecided.
Ace’s biggest problem is his lack of identity. One minute he’s the ultimate hustler controlling the corner, the next minute he’s the ladies man and in between he’s deadest on convincing he came up so destitute that you’d be a fool not to root for his success. I truly despise this channel. So much, I keep it tuned in to stay on top of their fuckery, in an enemies-close-kinda-way. Their latest act of business is nothing short of the first class stupidity that’s earned them the right to be Viacom’s Cinderella (minus the fairy godmother) for all these years. As it turns out, Willy Northpole’s “#1 Side Chick” video’s portrayal of a guy with two girlfriends is unfit for their polished programming, as they have declared it banned from future broadcasting.
In a statement collected by SOHH, Willy Northpole’s manager Tiffany Johnson had this to say:
BET didn’t like how the video portrays a man in a relationship with two women. Johnson says there’s no anger in Northpole’s camp toward BET, but the channel’s decision “Kind of hurt, because they’ve shown a lot worse,” she says. “I don’t know how they can say we’re portraying something unwholesome, because the video ends with the man marrying one of the women. I feel our video is tasteful. We were kind of offended. My first thought was ‘Every Girl’ can get played, and we can’t?” (Phoenix New Times)
