Is Mr. Hudson Any G.O.O.D.?
AUDIO By Beware on July 7, 2009 at 8:05 pm
When Kanye said he would turn Mr. Hudson into a superstar, I believed him.
Now, after hearing three songs from Hudson’s G.O.O.D. Music debut, Straight No Chaser, doubt has arisen and I’m left wondering if the London singer can come out from behind the shadow of Mount Yeezy. The guy’s got a hell of a voice, but do I need to hear it through a million effects? Sure, Kanye’s beats are dope, but is this the best use of them? Will the R&B singer’s following across the pond be enough to help him succeed, or will his status sit solely on the shoulders of us blokes in the America? Is there a spot on the B-Team with Consequence and GLC?
I stand firm on my answers, but you can peep game below and decide for yourself.

I just dont like any of these guys, and the worst part about it is that nobody even cares what i think!
what about, “Mr hudson & the library – A Tale of Two Cities” first album. listen this album for ya new post about this dude. cuz that is probably the Yeezy’s first perception of this new artist, on his label. check and give some thoughts. peace
Everything is Broken isn’t really my taste but I can see it being a pop sensation for a while.
Anyone but him…..well I was barely hanging on hoping that Ye’s verse would save the song…..it didn’t save it but it was definitely a hard verse
based off his first album with the library, and Supernova, I think he’s talented, and could be big.
but i still haven’t heard a hit.
and that’s what matters
“ye” should stick to production…his ego is constantly being inflated by the homie Hov who rides with him no matter what he does simply because he discovered Kanye. dude has nobody left to check him when he constantly churns out sucka shit
As a critic, who looks for originality as well as accessibility in full albums, I like what I’ve heard from the project so far and don’t think he necessarily needs a smash hit to be a success in my book — especially being from Europe where the fanbase is firmly intact (see: the Bedingfields).
It’ll fit in where the likes of Chester French & Idle Warship do: under the radar with albums with great replay value
Signing to GOOD was the worst thing Mr Hudson could’ve possibly done. This new shit aint seeing nothing on his first album.
I had hope as well.
But I believe he would have been better off without Kanye in the mix.
None of the songs leaked thus far are hits.
And you need hits to be what Kanye predicted him to be.
-
I first met Kanye in ‘99.
He played me some beats…
I told him he was going to be one of the biggest producers in Hip-Hop.
And that is what he has become.
(I did it with others – Chad & Pharrell, Drake, etc, etc. It all came to fruition)
If there is one thing I can predict…
It is the “level” of success regarding an artist.
And I just see nothing about that in Mr. Hudson.
Well if that’s the case, The-Dream & Tricky Stewart ain’t too hard to find
more pseudo hipster bullshit…
kanye went hollywood until i hear some hard ass beats from this cat or until he cosigns some streetworthy shit im washing my hands of him…fuckin with them white girls.
anyone but him is the worst thing i have ever heard
literally ever
wtf
ok these 2 songs are just horrible…
supernova is a great song
but damn doesn’t even compare to mr. hudson & the library’s album
that album is outstanding and these songs fail in comparison
nice post beware!
i peeped his 1st album and i like that mr. hudson
hoping this album isn’t filled w/ records that have too much effects but idk *shrugs*
i saw him twitter one day something about bbc or some type of ny cool kid clothing (idk) basically something he never used to seem to care about but now..
remember when the site was hosted by rawkus?
anyway
im contemplating not ever showing up to this site again after you posted ‘anyone but him’
then again you did kinda roast w. northpole for his album..
i might stay.
but..youre on probation tss.
Anyone But Him SUCKS
and the other one isn’t much better
the whole Mr. Hudson situation is just weird.
link for that first album you all speak of?
““ye” should stick to production…his ego is constantly being inflated by the homie Hov who rides with him no matter what he does simply because he discovered Kanye”
No Jay Z didn’t discover Kanye he hopped on his nuts when he started 2 blow up. Dame Dash discovered Kanye
Wait Dash discovered Kanye?? Nope Kanye was big underground, just listen to some older Talib Kweli.
Also Mr Hudson can do it on his own after such a big success with “The Library” And that Supernova track is way hot.
y’all is wack. they makin music, good music. who cares ’bout the hata gossip, ’specially y’all’s
*Clears throat*
“We” (i.e. the TSS community)…
Do not speak that way “’round” these parts.
(P.S. Mr. was making better music on his won – fact)
won = own
(Subliminal mistype)
“y’all is wack. they makin music, good music. who cares ’bout the hata gossip, ’specially y’all’s”
the MUSIC is wack, fagnuts.
We bump Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better music round here bwoy.
Not one bit of hating going on, its called taste and good judgement. ; )
Mr. Hudson has potential i dug his Mr Hudson & The Library its a cross-genre album kinda ben westbeech/jamie cullum vibe , meets electronic/sting
but u of course have to be open to everything…i actually will admit I DONT LIKE THE TRACKS he’s done W/ KANYE
“the MUSIC is wack, fagnuts.
We bump Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better music round here bwoy.
Not one bit of hating going on, its called taste and good judgement. ; )”
—–>my bad, i shouldn’t have called y’all wack. i should of just said i like the songs. Its good that you think you’re opinion is better than everyone else’s. I bet people love u. Anyone but him… ya, anyone but you.
Paranoid was IMO the best song on 808s (along with Say You Will)
Supernova and Everything is Broken are good, they sound like Depeche Mode songs.
Anyone but Him just sounds really unfinished… but I like Kanye’s verse and the concept of Kanye being the bad guy that Hudsons talking about.
I think the albums got potential, but I don’t think Mr Hudson will ever be a superstar, the way Kanye says he will be.
I bought the ‘Library’ album when it came out – some tracks like ‘Too Late’ had a nice party feel to it and the slow tracks were interesting. Still play that album every now and then.
I was surprised he got picked by Kanye because he’s a million miles away from anything Kanye-esque. Its just an odd pick. THATS why I don’t think it’ll be massive, because ultimately the music Mr Hudson is making under Kanye’s label is Kanye’s music….NOT his own.
As someone said earlier, for a true reflection of Hudson as an artist peep his first album. Kanye-free and all the better for it.
Also, it would help if he was backed by Kanye a la 2003 when he was actually still brilliant and not lazy present day Kanye, which is boring and droll if you ask me.
Mr. Hudson has alot of potential and i think That Kanye was definetly the right choice to mold him into a superstar.. The guy can sing and with Kanye’s production backing him anything can happen.. Super nova and Everything is broken are pretty solid songs.. But Anyone but him has the potiential to be a hit song.. The GOOD music label has three rising stars in my opinion. Kid Cudi, Big Sean, and of course Mr Hudson.. I myself am looking forward to the debut of Straight No Chaser.
