It’s not uncommon for an artist to rush a lackluster album, so we’ll let Haystak slide on the clunker that was The Natural II.

Luckily for us, in the midst of mediocrity, the stand-out tracks shine brighter. Such is the case for “My Mistress,” one of the few meaningful songs on the Nashville native’s latest effort. Riding the remorseful string sample and oscillating drums like a steady 747, Mr. Mak Million explains the burden of his cross-country business ventures and how they’ve essentially become his side chick, taking up all his time. The result is an insightful and gracious message to his wife and daughter.

If more there were more tracks like this on Haystak’s last effort, I might be excited for Came A Long Way, which unbelievably drops next week. SMH.
