Call off the search. We’ve got a Goapele sighting.
It’s fitting that after a five year layoff Goapele would name her album Milk & Honey. While not quite the 40 years the Israelites roamed in the wilderness, it does seem like an eternity due to our shortened attention spans in the ever increasing digital age. And it seems especially long for an independent artist to be off the scene. So it’s good to see the Bay Area songstress back in the game, especially since she’s one of the first artist’s I got put on to when I first discovered TSS.
So with the first leak we’re privy to the title track. “Milk & Honey” is a great re-introduction to some and an introduction for others. Chock full of the the soulfulness you’d expect from her, along with a touch of digital fare to appease to the Auto-Tune crowd.

Live in the bay, and it was actually on KMEL this morning. Great song and could be her next hit behind Closer.

Leona Lewis sucks. She has a voice, but sings with no emotion what so ever. She’s just a pretty face and puppet for Simon Cowell to control. She’s bout the only British singer in recent memory who should just stay over there… or become a Cooler chick.

Talking about someone who has been in witness relocation; when is RES coming back out (and I don’t mean with idle worship).
I went and saw Karriem Riggins a few weeks ago at Yoshi’s out in Oakland. It was actually the day Michael passed. Goapele came out and did a surprise performance of “I Can’t Help It.” Karriem apparently did a lot of production on the new album which should be real dope.
Damn when did Baby Paw turn into a 16 bar Haiku spitting Hater Chris? Leona Lewis can sing but she shows no emotion when she performs. She is a step above a talking wax statue when it comes to performing.

Even though from Bay Area, I’m exctatic to say she descends from South Africa the name Goapele means “Moving Forward”…she’s BEEN doing it with so much ease.1
