Freeway’s one of those artists who just never is gonna get his.
Lyrically, Freeway wrecks tracks on the regular, while his ear for beats always compliment his grimy flow. Still, no matter the talent, there is just absolutely no mainstream crossover appeal to him. At first glance I’d say it was the beard holding him back, but after reminiscing over his career for a second, it’s pretty apparent his previous labels never gave him much of a push either.
None the less, Free is more than talented and he’s proven so with the “Month Of Madness” push he grinded out last summer while looking or a deal. He’s almost kept pace since then by dropping a few tracks a month and “Free Moolah” happens to be another banger. Featuring production by Phoe Notes, “Free Moolah” has Free going in on like usual.
His next album’s dropping on Cash Money sometime this year, along with another release with Producer Jake One, and it finally seems like his label is fully backing him. If he can take the focus away from the beard and make his centre of attention his skills we might finally get the Freeway we’ve been waiting for since State Prop.

Nothing to do with this, but word out there is that Bow Wow is hittin’ Rosa. Yes, Acosta. My girl told me this. Apparently it was said on YBF. Say it ain’t so!
If its true good for Bow Wow; she will make that pup a full fledge Dog. lol
I’ve liked Freeway ever since the Dynasty album. But like you said, something just seems to always be holding him back. This track is fresh. I certainly hope that he can get a push from his label. It is hard for artists to be successful these days.
His first album went gold. But that was a different era. I mean, shit, that was back when we were still giving BET the benefit of the doubt. Things done changed.
But he’s doing the right thing. He’s focusing on the music. Three albums in one year! Let’s hope that the focus is quality.
I’d say it will be. He honestly has been on the grind ever since he moved on…
Im always a aupporter of this cat and really enjoyed his month of madness. I never expect anything classic out if him, but his talent is absolutely undeniable. I swear it’s the beard that denies him of being a better artist.
He’s got the flow. Subject matter is generally on point. Beats are always top notch. But how the hell can I relate to the beard.
Women won’t swoon over it.Guy’s think beards get greasy.
He just has zero crossover appeal.
you gotta play the game to get yours in this rap climate and freezer chooses to sit on the bench. its his choice
free at last was niiiice, the beat selection was amazing, but I didn’t listen to philadelphia freeway 2 at all, I hope he comes back with that soulful stuff
