“Tiger Stadium is being torn down, and the train station is supposed to be demolished too. This video is one of the last times anybody outside of Detroit is going to see them,” Em said. “I wrote ‘Beautiful’ when I was really down, during a difficult time struggling with my addiction. It’s a reminder to keep your head up, and to see who you really are despite what you may be going through. Now that I’ve gotten through the toughest part, I see how the song relates to Detroit, and it feels even more powerful to me.” [MTV]

Much respect to everything the man has done, but it just feels like he lost his rhythm in a battle against momentum. Just waited too long.
I just got home about an hour ago from scouting different locations in the downtown Atlanta for a music video that I’m directing and that train station would have been PERFECT. As soon as the vid came on thats all I could think about. Instead we got clearance to shoot on top of these “homes” that remind me of the opening credits of Good Times.

Beautiful is one of my favorite songs on Relapse….after 3AM, My mom, and My darling. This song and video gives you not Eminem( 3AM, Stay Wide Awake), not Slim Shady (My Mom, Bagpipes from Baghdad, We Made You) but Marshall. Which if you’ve see him in any interviews since he’s come back, you see the difference.
The only thing I would have liked to see is more Detroit. The train depot and old Tiger stadium are practically next to each.. hell, that whole area is disappearing… maybe show the empty skyscrapers and burnt down houses. I know people understand that Detroit is falling apart.. but damn.. it may one day be a giant ghost town.

Wow, so the Rockets lose Yao and Artest in one swoop. I hope T Mizzy got his rest in. How can the Lakers afford Artest? They’ve been talking about paying Lamar and Ariza less just to keep them. Did they drop somebody?

Ariza is as good as gone now unless the Lakers are willing to pay the luxury tax which I sincerely doubt they will. Artest will get 18 mill for 3 years and it will probably be front loaded (i.e. 7-8 mill for first 2 years) and a 2- 3 million option on the third year that way he can opt out for more money down the road w/Lakers.
Only way they can keep Ariza now is if Kobe takes a pay cut and sincerly doubt Kobe will do that. He will demand and get a 3rd of the entire payroll for the next 5 years.
Starting 5 next year: Fisher/Kobe/Artest/Gasol/Bynum and Odom off the bench.
Its seems like some big pick ups are being made this next season. It think Cleavland may have started a ripple effect. The only team that hasn’t made a big or any move are my anti-Lakers in green.

Agreed… It’s going to be a much more difficult go around next year. It will be the Celtics and Lakers (if we can get by San Antonio… Don’t sleep on them!)

I don’t sleep on San An, I can’t waint for Manu to get back in the mix. Sheed, IDK I’m not all that confident that he still has the CONSISTENT motivation to make a real impact on the team. He’s a talent that has frustrated me to no end lately. Don’t sleep on the Magic, I’m interested to see how VC plays in the mix.
