Normal looking retro J’s right?
Au contraire, mon frère, at least not when Nike & Jordan Brand are milking the memories have memories & milestones to work with.
For most sneakerheads, Jordans are the starting point of collecting & the man’s accomplishments are remembered by which shoes he was playing in. The particular jumpers were the ones he wore for Game Five of the 1997 NBA Playoffs, when MJ took the court with the flu & still scorched the Jazz for 38 points. The most indelible moment: Pip carrying an exhausted Mike off the court.
For this one, the devil is in the subtle details. The shoes feature the year and his point total across the tongue, along with a slick cartoon sick face placed between the laces. These appear to be nubuck instead of leather like the originals. Outside of that, the design seems to stay intact.
Available in November but OSneakers has had the drop on a few pairs.

yep, they were bumpy-faced. That leather > suede b/c it holds up well. But still, the details are ill lol.
And yep, I been waiting. TC told me to wait but I refused lol.
I wish Nike would use bumpy face leather on most 1′s instead of that vinyl shit they use now. Shit is like paper mache, creases as soon as you start walking, even if you do “the walk.”

Nubuck actually wears quite well if you know how to clean & kept it from looking ashy. Plus, the leather on the OG’s was tough. If they did these in leather now, it’s prolly be subpar.
Fuck FCNY. Bastards won’t get a dime from me for the rest of this decade. Three horrible experiences with their shiesty business practices & LACK of communication. They can suck a fat one.

I got lucky. Walked into Ross at the right time and saw them on the rack, my size and everything.
I never have anything to say about shoes here so I was just waiting for a moment to bring it up in the comment section.

and FYI I’m glad the retros are different so when I wear the OGs people know the deal. I had the OG XIs on and this kid that I don’t think was born in 96′ was like “I got those”
My answer nah not really.
But the reality is without studying shoe it’s hard to tell unless they make some distinguishing differences.

They need that butter leather. I’m no nubuck fan myself. Too high maintenance.
I am not a fan of Nubuck; if Nike was using the good leather those joints would be crazy.
I offically retired my Black/Red XII retros last week. Played ball in them to death…just tossed in the the trash.
