So the word is that one of Auto-Tune’s biggest abusers supporters actually inspired its demise: Kanye West.
In an exclusive sit-down with Billboard, Jigga said Kanye was amped when he initially heard the record.
“When he heard the beat he said, ‘Man, this is just so hard! This has to be against everything — no Auto-Tune, none of that type of stuff!’ He didn’t know what I was going to do or where I was going to take it, but it was actually his fault.”
All the work put into the love-lockdownin’, heartless heartbreakin’ just so Big Brother can sweep the rug from underneath his feet. Kinda like the time he told Jay he had a song with Coldplay, eh? Makes you wonder if Jigga just gave him the “Oh it’s cool” line when he first heard 808s & Heartbreak like he did when ‘Ye relayed the “Miracle-Whip” quote to him on “Last Call.”
Can’t show your hand til’ it’s time to play it. That’s what I say.

808s the album was a huge fucking mistake. That album was beyond boring.

I like 808’s. Plus Kanye got sangers covering that shit (see the lovely Melanie Fiona). Make music that lives beyond the 3 month span.

there were a lot of people who liked 808s, including myself… of course i liked his three previous albums more, but i still listened to the hell out of out; still, it isn’t hard to point out flaws in it, or see why a lot it doesn’t appeal to a lot of people.
Alight Kanye went platinum with 808s, which means he did excellent, he was number one on the billboards 200 for 4 weeks straight, and Jay-Z just has that Big Brother mentality that ALL big brothers have, and thats to do better than your little brother, even if it means embarrassing him…
