SMOKE BREAK By Gotty™ on June 11, 2009 at 10:44 amOn NBC’s Today Show, Kathy Lee doesn’t go in Trey Songz-style on Hammer. But at the 3:35 mark, it gets a little awkward to say the least.
Kathy Lee: “Your dad he was at the top boy…was it $32 million you had? What happened?”
Hammer: “I don’t know but that’s not something you say to a 10 year old.”
It was enough of an offhanded slight that I wouldn’t have been mad had he gotten up, pushed her out the chair & did the Typewriter across her skull. No tellin’ how greasy she was talking about him previous to the interview when she was in the dressing room.
What she should have asked Hammer is why he had that sock on his head. Or, she could’ve asked if he’s preppin’ his son to be the next Adam Lambert, having him sing “Heartless” while wearing a polyester vest. I’ll give the kid a pass because he can’t go in Burlington & be aware of the implications. But I’ve never known a straight man to wear a vest…and if you’re a vest wearer, buddy, you’re a piccolo player as far as I’m concerned.

Hammer went broke by trying to employ 1/8 of the citizens of Oakland. When it comes to giving back, I think it’s safe to say he gave. Not the game, but to his community.
Hammer had hustle … not a good rapper but he used his strengths (dancing moves, Alladin pants and pop hooks) to take it as far as he could go. Foolish of him to waste a fortune but a lot of musicians never realize that the windfall of a hit album may never be followed up. Trump got broke multiple times but kept hustling. People like Sting, Billy Joel were able to bounce back because of the quality of their catalogs but there are a lot of musicians who are suffering, partially through their own fault but also because of the recording industry.
I am sure Hammer regrets wasting that money but he is soldiering on.

I wouldn’t feel too bad for the MC, back in the day I worked retail and he was my so called “customer”. He would come at closing time and want me to shut the store down so he could shop (believe me the store I worked for had much bigger celebrity clients than him) and then he would stay forever. My employees were now being there well after their scheduled working hours and Hammer and his thugs were so rude to me and my employees and then he would expect to get the stuff for free. As if we needed him to advertise our merchandise. Maybe he knew he would be broke some day. So don’t feel too bad for him because he felt as if he owned the world and everyone in it back when he was popular and he wanted us all to be his slaves.

Yeah it was a very inappropriate comment. Why would you bring up to Hammer’s 10 year old son how his father lost 32 million dollars and hit rock bottom? An even better question is why is Kathie Lee still on TV? Does anyone actually want to hear what she has to say?
How DARE Kathy Lee Gifford disrespect & humiliate Hammer on national television, not to mention in front of his 10 year old son. The Today Show should issue a formal apology and so should Kathy Lee. I wonder how she would feel if she did an interview about her job on Today and someone were to ask her precious Cody and or Cassidy how they felt when their father cheated on her, I don’t believe she would be as diplomatic as Hammer was to her.
