Yes, I’m Feelin’ Some Kinda Way…

“This fur fitted has nothing to do with me sweating.”
Once upon a time in Bed-Stuy Brooklyn, there lived a fellow by the name of Shamele Mackie. He showed great potential behind the mic and managed to get the attention of once reputable tastemaker and DJ Keith Grayson.
It did not take a very much outside of that cosign to propel his career into the bright blue sky. Overnight, Shamele a.k.a Papoose became a rapping sensation, both underground and mainstream. He put out a whopping 30 mixtapes and created more buzz than horny queen bees. In spite of this and his famed $1.5 million deal with Jive Records, no album was released and A&R’s were blamed.
But now he’s back (I think) and demonstrating less versatility than he’s ever attempted to demonstrate. The flow is the same, the content unchanged and the forceful Brooklyn demeanor intact. The only thing that has changed is his buzz is now mosquito-esque at best. He’s no longer setting himself up for the throne, but instead to become the next ‘coulda been’ in Hip-Hop.
At this, he succeeds. Congratulations Mr. Mackie.

^ lol
I think dude is talented as hell on the mic, but I never really felt him. *pause*
THUGA-THUGA-THUGACATION!!! Damn, Pap still got it. Too bad about that Jive situation though.
Honeymoon over..time to get back to work!!
Just finishing watching that movie The Hangover…shit was straight hilarious!!
I never saw what all of the hype was about….
Found out about 5 years back that Kay Slay is my cousin and 2 years ago that Sticky Fingaz is my cousin. NY is so big but so small.. peace peace
Regardless of your level of talent, if you don’t capitalize on your buzz (buzz often > talent), you will be brushed aside for the next “big thing”.
Nothing against Pap, just is how it is.
let me hold something.

_____
you’re thinking of his jail-bird
I still think his best song was “Menace 2 Society pt. 2″……. but even THEN, I saw this coming
Pass. I remember his Madden track, that was it.
lol his wife looks like a tranny.
How you gonna write 30 mixtapes worth of material, countless guest verses etc and NOT have any lasting relationship as a writer in the industry?
Pap made the stupid amateur mistake of expunging half a decades worth of material in a year and change and burnt out
Non-sustainable pace . Artists take note.
PUBLISHING.
Pap should have got his publsihing straight writing for them other cats while he had a buzz
dummy
Dude always and will always be wack.
You know what I find funny? Most of these “mixtape emceez” (Pap, Saigon, Uncle Murda, etc. etc.) and dudes that used to be featured on SMACK, The Come UP, and countless other dvd’s failed to capitalize on the exposure that they had at the time. Now, you have dudes like Wale, Mickey Factz, The Cool Kids, and Kid Cudi whom I’ve NEVER seen on ANY dvd or DJ mixtape (Kay Slay, Big Mike etc.) use the Internet to their advantage and supersede the aforementioned artists. Damn, how things change so quickly.
Real talk, I deleted all this niggas music like 2 weeks ago off my ipod lol
Sup with all the lint on his lid…shit would look terrible in a strip club with all the black lights…lol
“Most of these “mixtape emceez” (Pap, Saigon, Uncle Murda, etc. etc.)” = grimey street cats
“Now, you have dudes like Wale, Mickey Factz, The Cool Kids, and Kid Cudi” =not so much
Not a real big surprise. Chances are, if you’re on the internet enough to become a fan of the internet emcees, you’re not on the block coppin mixtapes. Internet rappers tend to appeal more to the dorm rooms and people of slightly better means than your average stoop and project hallway dweller.
This shit is wack he is overrated. His punchlines are wack.
Yeah the potential was definitely there, alot of cats were saying dude was the next Big L…..
Alphabetical Slaughter is a crazy track……

^^^not even close to Big L status…
Am i wrong for saying that i NEVER got into this dude’s music… Ehh well
HAHHAHHAHHAHHHA
they just showed the Leroy Smith (Charlie Murphy) infomercial on ESPN as a normal commercial
CLASSIC
The Mastervator FTW!!
You could pole vault through Papoose’s nostrils
“….more buzz than horny queen bees.”
contra, you do have a way with words. then you downgraded his buzz to “mosquito-esque at best.” LOL! good stuff, homie.
yeah, this is what happens when niggaz don’t capitalize, thinkin the buzz is gonna last 4ever. he claims he ain’t have to give back the 1.5 mil, but i don’t buy it. and if he ain’t give it back, he musta gave up sumthin… like the rights to his next 2 albums or sumthin. cuz ain’t no record label just givin away money for nuthin’.
on the topic of kayslay, STRAIGHT STUNTIN is the best magazine on the newsstand. 300 pages of booty, it’s heavy as a mu’fucka! the drama king gives you more bang for your buck. and now its online!

the man is a genius.
Contra- Nice post. I totally agree. Dude had mad industry cats at the cosign front. Plus he had a captive audience waiting on him. Def left much to desire…just like this track.
@ Teef
hell naw lol
Hold up, his names Shamele? Ol’ Borscht Belt-name havin’ ass nigga.
All u dickheads who dont understand Papoose do not understand hip hop.
Pap was one of the 1st new dudes to spit raw underground fire on a commercial track and give it buzz on both sides, do u fuckboi’s understand how hard that is to do.
Unfortunatley Pap is to street and intense to make a hit record on the same levels as The Game, T.I. etc etc.
So u cant expect a total miracle, but I still believe with the right music and if he tones down his intensity is is possible, but thats not Pap I guess, real mafukas dont compromise, just a lil bit.
