In just a little over a year, Donny Goines has made a prominent name for himself, appearing on countless guest verses and radio shows and even releasing his debut album Minute After Midnight last December. If sleep is the cousin of death, it shares no bloodline with Donny for he’s back with his 2nd project, The Breakfast Club in just a matter of months. In anticipation of his official debut album The Salvation, Skyzoo started a series of video blogs. In part one, Sky previews a couple of tracks including the 9th Wonder produced “Beautiful Decay” and “For What Its Worth” produced by newcomer Eric G. (Not to be confused with Eric B.)

Skyzoo always collabos with well-known producers so don’t be shocked if a name or three pop up in future installments.

We haven’t been shy about declaring our support and love for all things Wafeek, but giving him the benefit of the doubt on an Auto-Tune project centered around a girlfriend break up…well let’s just say if Mr. West can’t get full support, no one can. Doubts can be put aside however. The confusing yet intoxicating Feekee & the Flux Capacitor is one of the few projects to use the sounds created by Auto-Tune to widen the range of emotions within the music. From his Off The Wall tribute album. Another attempt for a buzz artist to capitalize off MJ’s death? Not exactly. As Esso explains:

This is one of the hardest things that I’ve ever had to do in my career. I was scheduled to announce this project on Wednesday of this week, but in light of Michael’s passing on Thursday, Woody & I feel like the world needs to know what we’ve been working on for the last few months and why this has been so hard for me to deal with. I’ve been recording my own version of MJ’s Off The Wall album for the last few months now in honor of it’s 30th Anniversary which is on August 10th, and will release it 30 years to the day his original album came out. We were working on this project long before his passing, and will not change the date to even 1 day earlier given the significance of August 10th.

And if you really think about it, this is Michael Jackson we’re talking about. Coincidences for honoring and sampling his music is not only second nature in Hip-Hop, it’s human nature as well. Read the rest of this entry »
