MC Lyte is back to bless us with yet another ode to County of Kings. It’s hard to believe she’s been rapping and repping damn near 23 years and still has this much energy and love (and she still looks so good to boot).
This time she’s giving her fellow Bucktown residents and representatives just what they need — a reason to begin repping extra hard and a new anthem to do it to. So excuse me as I get my Michael Caesar on for a minute.
BROOOKLYN!!!! Bed-Stuy, Nostrand Ave., Gates Ave., stand up!!

I don’t like it. Am I allowed to NOT like an MC Lyte record?
“Everybody gets one”
MC Lyte looks better now than she did way back when.
@Oh D. To each his own. *continues rocking to the track*
What the heck? Did I Just In To A Time Warp, Again?
I don’t like this record either!
It’s like a track Born Jamericans rejected, or something.
Why she JA-faking it?
Aside from the Ja-fakin accent it’s not a bad record … plus its nice to hear the Steel Pulse verse she borrowed. Also she straight up admits to it so …

@Ragga, man you know Pato Banton & Rankin’ Roger?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XxQITu7a3P0
… kinda gets more corny with repeat listens … not a Steel Pulse verse … actually Bob Marley.
Pato Banton …. that record he had with Ali Campbell of UB40 was one of the first songs I got from Itunes.
Good clip Paw
Never been to Britain but judging from the diversity of music that climbs the British charts (reggae, hiphop, dance music, pop, classical, alternative) it must be a whole lot better to listen to the radio than most US radio stations.
@Ragga, you mean, baby come back, with me colour tv and me cd collection of bob marley! :)
She even took his bag of sensi! Cheeky woman!
BTW, I just you tubed Mad Lion as well, I wonder where he is at these days though?

Youtube is awesome.
Ha ha! Oh man! She cleared him out, TV, CD Collection, Weed, looks like she even took the carpet!
You remember this track by Red Dragon?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDmbflVActA
Red Dragon had a strip club in Portmore Jamaica by that name.
For real? Ha, for some reason I used to think he was paying homage to that Hannibal Lecter novel by the same name. Good times though, used to get a lot of Dancehall, Reggae and Ragga storming through the charts, like Ini Kamoze, Supercat, Bitty McClean, ASWAD and of course Chaka Demus & Pliers!
UK wise, yeah man you got a lot of musical diversity here, everybody got an equal chance to shine, just got to make a track that catches the ear.
I’ve just been fooling around on Youtube, harked back a few years ago to a certain Ms Dynamite, damn she just vanished, thought she would still be getting her shine like some of the UK songbirds nowadays, but naa I think she took a rest from the game to raise a family or something. This tune still hits pretty hard, me thinks.

Maybe if she just rhymed on the track without the Jafaking accent it would be a better track; alas she did not and this song sucks.
She is looking damn good though
