How did this random act of remixing slip by us?
This is a 13-year-old version of “Player’s Ball” by E-40, Too Short and K-Ci and JoJo, produced by none other than The Legendary Traxster. If you’re unfamiliar with the name, shame on you. The man was behind the boards for some of Chicago’s best work (Adrenaline Rush, Picture This, Mobstability, etc.) and is one of my personal favorite beatsmiths.
Anyways, his touches to Forty’s Water steadfast single from 1996′s Hall Of Game give the cut more of a dark vibe, opposed to Ant Banks’ funky finesse on the OG. Either way, how in the hell it resurfaced is my question. Andrew over at Fake Shore Drive says it’s from Traxster’s foray with Jive in the late 90′s.
Considering it’s almost 2010, you gotta love the nostalgia of it all.

could never top the original but this still slaps.
Not to be confused with DJ Trackstar or Tricky Trax or Abdul Jamal Trackz.
I like it, sounds like some Rick Rock/Cosmic Slop era mobb shit.
On the random remix tape, I just found the Southerplayalistic… Diamond D remix 12″. Anyone got an MP3 for that one?
Good looking out. I wasn’t aware of this one until this weekend. Fucking dealer wanted 10…I couldn’t do it.
