Words By Landon A.
It’s ironic that my last day as a landscaper at a Kentucky horse farm would undoubtedly be the hottest of the year thus far. As I rose at 6am to commute toward the rolling hills of bluegrass filled with million dollar grazing thoroughbreds, the heat index was just hitting the high 70’s. When you’re trimming bushes for eight hours a day in triple digit heat, an iPod is a necessity. Today I found a diamond in the rough hidden in the recesses of my ever expanding library.
Canadian beatsmith, Dela manages to revisit the 90’s summer banger in 2009 with his nostalgic take on the golden era, Changes of Atmosphere. Like Marco Polo, Dela manages to pull together some high profile MC’s to throw verbal darts over his beats. J-Live, Large Pro, Talib Kweli and J. Sands provide the old school assistance while new faces include Blu, Termanology and Naledge.
“Chill”, which features Xtra P, provides the proper soundtrack to a day at the public pool following a hot day at the job site. Large Pro proves that he’s still nice on the mic while Dela proves he can hang with the greats, bringing back memories of the 1992 Pete Rock. So, whether you’re out sweating in the sun like myself or sitting bored behind a desk, throw this joint in the mix and do exactly what the professor says.

Now I have the urge to listen to “It Ain’t Hard To Tell”.
RMF…
im throwin this shit on the i hate my job playlist. Heat. I kinda hear TROY in there somewhere
i recognized dela instantly…i didn’t really like changes 2 much.
the song with naledge was ok but the best was long life ft talib. these 2 NEED to work on some material together. i would like to see kweli go back to the more “earthy boom bap” sound than the just blaze hype tracks
GOD..if you’re listening. i need a solo talib album produced by
Hi-Tek
Dela
Supa Dave West
Karriem Riggins
Kanye West
K1/Kwame
9th Wonder

P.S. – NO MORE DILLA BEATS! SEND HIS MOMMA/FAMILY A CHECK BUT STOP USING THEM OLD ASS BEATS. DILLA WOULD’VE LIKED IT FRESH ANYWAY
Dela is a beatsmith from France.
Track uploaded here is a remix version by Japanese producer Lark Chillout.
This album was one of my favorites of 2008. The 2009 US release had a song with Elzhi entitled “My Nigga”.
