50 Cent - War Angel LP
AUDIO By Gotty™ on June 17, 2009 at 10:09 amIn case you were asleep last night (like I was), here it what you may be looking around for this morning. Curtis is releasing War Angel (the LP!) in anticipation of the much delayed Before I Self Destruct, which is currently set to release in September. If you’re so inclined, the business after the break.

Who was waiting for this trash; I was looking forward to the 3.0 software upgrade for the iphone.
Some gay-bashing in the end of track 5 ….and still hates preem on track 9.
Dope album!
I need a review of it before i go home and expose my eardrums to the life and crimes of Curtis Jackson
The lil “Red Rum” song wasn’t all that bad IMO.
60,000+ downloads at the time of this statement.
Why everybody front on dude so hard? (ll)
SOMEbody’s checking for it… I ain’t breaking my neck for it, but I will download…
50 Cent R.I.P.
I still say 50 Cent’s BEST ALBUM is POWER OF THE DOLLAR….
I’m done.
I just downloaded it.
Now listening to it; sounds good.
“This war angel is not happy with the state of hip hop right now” hahahaha Fif needs to smock some buds or something, relax a little bit. Anyone else think it’s funny that his “LP” artwork looks more like the video game “Doom” than anything else?
Glad to see 50 back on his mixtape grind (I refuse to call this an “LP”!), get back on that gutta shit Fif!!!
This is better than anything Max B has put out.
Dude lost his hunger. I won’t bother with the album, but I might give this a listen. I already heard that red rum track somewhere if it wasn’t here. Not all that impressed.
This definitely had more of that “Grimey New York Rap” that 50 somewhat abandoned for the more polished Aftermath sound of Dre’s production. Aside from the ones already leaked, it got a few joints on here. I still hope when the album drops (leaks) it will have more bangerz than this.
You know, this ain’t that bad…
Give it a try, you dont like it, then you dont, but im glad I did.
I gotta say.. I was pleasantly surprised.

Its my underground debut. 46 tracks. A loose concept. RAW, soulful, hypnotic, timeless. Each track is like a snippet. It’s similar in concept to Madlib’s Beat Konductor series.

I know it’s a lot of tracks, but it will all fit on one 80 minute CD. Drop it in iTunes and there will be full id3 tag support. Everything will be in order and named properly. If you like Hip Hop there is bound to be something on it you think is dope.
There will be a series in the works that will follow this up.
Peace!
LOU
P.S. TSS Crew if you like the work, I’d appreciate some help in spreading the word. Thanks!

Not hatin’ on 50, but what happened to that dude?? Loved his freshman album, but things have taken a serious dive since then - and this mix only cements that fact that I won’t buy his upcoming album. Really.. was Dre and Em that much of a factor in his talent in the beginning?
this is….a rather…pleasant surprise.
not bad….but not phenomenal either. it’s straight.
you guys are gay this album is dope as fuck.
When did Fifty become so trivial to ya’ll?? Fif goes hard, he’s one of the only top artists that actually writes his raps! It’s clear that 50, just like Jada has to reinvent hip hop damn near for yall to get excited. While {insert overrated internet fave here} clutters your hard drive with garbage that will never move the masses. Give him the same leeway you give the indie weirdo bullshit..
p.s-Yeah I been gone but i’m back. This time i’m going hard.
this is by far the best
01. I Line Niggas – Wow. 50 sounds hungry; really, really hungry.
Goons don’t use AutoTune just Yeezy
02. Talking In Codes – Really like the beat on this.
Hit his fitted cap he won’t get a chance to Twitter that
03. Ok, Ya Right – Been bumpin’ this for a minute, but I think it’s a good fit on War Angel. Can’t go wrong with Dr. Dre production.
Please don’t interupt me when I’m talking to my jeweler
He’s puttin’ them diamonds all over my Frank Mueller
04. Redrum (Murder) – 50 gets busy with a very calculated, but melodic flow. More growls.
I bet you think that I’m vicious, catch ya huggin and kissin
While the loves in the air I’ll put a hole in your heart
05. C.R.E.A.M. – 50 pays homage to the Wu and makes a mockery of rappers with mohawks and skinny-jeans. Chris Lighty tweeted about the following lyrics on June 6th, most likely while 50 layed down the track in the studio [see for yourself]:
The shootin’ gon’ start right after the shit talkin’
I was selling crack when Mike was moon-walkin’
06. I’ll Do Anything – Dedicated to the “bitches.” I see why this track is on the mixtape, but I’m not into it.
07. London Girl – Now this is a well done female-oriented track (more so than “I’ll Do Anything”). Who produced this?
08. Better Come On Your A Game – Back to the hardcore hip hop. The beat immediately has me nodding my head.
Find out who you’re fuckin’ with cause I ain’t for the sucka shit/Cut you like the cocaine
09. Get The Message – 50 breaks down his hustling days and the mindstate he had back in the day. This reminds me of a less-remorseful version of “Ghetto Quran.” Great chorus.
See my face through a hundred grams chopped on a mirror
Tell me I can’t eat, I ain’t tryna hear it
JoJo wanted the bitches I was tryna get my weight up
Nigga get in the way and get shot down straight up
I’m grimey, yea my friends killed my friends
Like Blackie, he did that shit to him
Get at me, I’m back strapped up again
I tried I can’t change I’ll always be the same
I told my little niggas ‘fuck Preme!’
And any motherfucka down with him to suck me – I’m still mad
10. Cocaine ft. Robin Thicke – A metaphor track about cocaine. Robin Thicke’s presense on War Angel LP is pretty damn random, but it works, kinda.
11. I Gotta Win - 50 describes this as “inner-city blues” and disses some of my e-competition for me.
You talk like a mobsta you fuckin’ blogga
12. Outro - 50 promotes his First Annual Family Day Festival scheduled for August 30th. The day before, August 29th, 50 will take the “whole hood to Great Adventures.” G-g-g-g-Unity.
Final Thoughts: War Angel LP is proof that 50 Cent invented the mixtape game as-we-know-it. With New York-inspired production, hardcore lyrics, and catchy hooks that fit the tone of the content, 50 is positioning himself to shut down the competition in September.
