I’ve prided myself for some time on finding obscure Light FM Drugstore Funk, sailing away on a boat of yachting gold. To that end, I bring you a tune layered so thick with dust and cough-ability I bought Visine for the occasion.

I vaguely recall hearing “Marzipan” in my living room when I was but a teeny LC, but it wasn’t until TSS second cousin Phonte sent it to me during a bout of Yacht Rock one-up-manship that I was truly acquainted with the song. The debate was somewhere around the time of our interview… right around when he insisted I tell him my Christian name before the Q&A continued, on account of “LC Weber sound like the old cat that’s been managing the Jiffy Lube for over 20 years and shit…” And when he handed the song off he said, in so many words, “Don’t talk to me about ‘Do I like Yacht Rock’ unless you have ‘Marzipan.’”

I didn’t. Sonned.

Sweet Marzipan now takes the high throne of mixtape-dom on my play list, and I share her with you today. To the man woman or child who finds this on vinyl (if it even exists) and sends it to yours truly, may all your son’s sons be wealthy and marry beautiful women. And I’m no longer some soothsaying Yacht Rock elitist who thinks you can’t outdo me, so if you have other good’ns stashed, by all means, let’s sail away.
