“Rollin’ Rollin’ Rollin’…”

I think Mundy and I have been discussing “Rollin’” for about a week now, with Mundy getting full credit for the initial cosign. I think I originally heard Rich Boy on the track for Bigger Than The Mayor and, more recently, G.O.O.D. newcomer Sean took his stab at it. The syncopated beat is almost like riding a bike with training wheels and a rapper would be hard-pressed to mess up on it. The problem is nobody is adding anything to it at this point. The original still wins and deserves to be placed in the rafters, left untouched.
But if all these artists were really wise, they’d make the move to take on PRG’z “Wood Grain” before others catch on. Mali Boy’s Poltergeist sample provides a haunting but charming sound.

That mixtape is crazy. One of my favorite tapes from ‘08. “Stuntastic” is my joint…also the track with Wale.
from what i remember (i could be wrong) Jackie Chaine from Huntsville had the beat first…got Rich Boy on the remix…Rich Boy pulls a jack…and the beat just kept floating from there….
This mixtape is straight bass. Soul Glo and Grind are always on play in the ride.
Rollin - probably has the most repeated plays for me of any song this year….
That sample and that bass…. No flaws or corniness in the verses…..
Well… cept for the fact I thought “Jhi Ali” was a chick for a good 3 months…
and that dude BIG P.O.P.E. on that tape is the worst rapper I’ve ever heard in my life no-shawty-lo-Yung LA-OJ da Jewman

Jackie Chains verse is pretty tight.. ever since Cudi came out I have been waiting for “xtacy” rap to blow up….
PRG’z album sampler was the soundtrack for last summer for me and the crew. (actually, I kinda felt the sampler > the complete mixtape…)
But I owe discovering them to whoever posted them in the first “Crew Love” lol.

Yeah, PRG are a big bag of awesomeness. Wood Grain still kills everything in sight for me, though. That Poltergeist sample - damn.

FYI: Rollin’ is Jackie Chain’s song but does feature Paper Route Gangsta Jhi-Ali there’s also a ton of Rollin’ remixes done by various DJs such as Flosstradamus, Diplo & Ayres. Also the remixes with the original beat one featuring Rich Boy & Attitude and another featuring KiD CuDi. Lastly Jackie & Jhi did a 2008 remix and Mali freaked the beat which to me was nicely done and my favorite out of above remixes. With that said Wood Grain is amazing also need to check the original Soul Glo which is available when you purchase Fear And Loathing with the bonus tracks. Wood Grain is also available for purchase on iTunes…

Wow. I live here and have never heard of these cats. Then again, I’m not too hip to the “scene” here. For every good group there is like 30 crews full of dudes in Bersace shades, rockin’ 10 ct CZs and Ed Hardy kicks.
Actually, Slowmotion Soundz is the only other crew worth mentioning from here.
i hung with some of these guys a few months ago, and was impressed to hear their music. they are pushing next level at the same time they keep the deep southern rap vibe true. mali’s sample choices are what sets it apart for me. jackie also had another song where he sampled “blinded by the light” way before 2pistols bit his shit. these guys are making noise in alabama, and sxsw last year they were featured too. keep up with them, i’d love to see them make it.
Bought this last year and been killin’ it ever since. Step ya collection game up!!! lol
