I don’t know what this is about. The release notes (“This is a warm-up mixtape to what will hopefully be an amazing album from them…”) weren’t all that helpful nor did they make me believe a Higher Power is going to bring this triumvirate together for an actual studio album.
But what I do know is…
A.) Minus D’Angelo, the other two put out solid work in the past calendar.
B.) Think Differently always does it lovely.
So, I’m cueing this up to give it burn during my weekend escapades. If it’s poppin’, I’ll dub my Mom a copy, throw it in a nice cover & call it a Mother’s Day gift.

It’s a decent listen, but nothing special… Just pieced together singles like a playlist…. Would’ve believed they’d do this TEN years ago, but not now….
Yeah, I had this about 3-4 days ago… some obscure joints on here but mostly an iTune style mix. But the concept of these 3 cats?
All i can say is Lucy Pearl 2.0. Speakin’ of which, that’s a crew that should get back for one more run…
and LC, the latest rumor (courtesy of a friend if mine who used to manage Maxwell and is semi- cool with ?uest) D’angelo is losing weight and back in the studio with a new sound dropping this fall. Obviously Maxwell’s obviously droppin’ next month, but my guy says there’s like 100 songs done and lots of ‘em are on some Terrance Trent D’arby (post Hardline according to) craziness… think ’60s soul/rock fusion…

Whatever happened to TTD? “Let Her Down Easy” and Delicate are a couple post Hardline songs that still get burn. I think the image obscured the music to a point.
This seems to be a recycling of old material but my respect for these artists is the utmost so I’ll be listening.

TTD… i should write a guest-column on TTD. Dude has been grinding since about ‘92 putting out crazy gorgeous soulful stuff, mostly under one of the ridiculously contrived names i’ve ever heard in my life.
Let’s put it like this: Prince thinks TTD has gone off the deep end.

Lynwood Rose was a group that they were working on bringing together before Lucy Pearl formed. I remember reading an interview about the group years ago. ?uestlove said the group was larger and had Joi, Ali Shaheed and Erykah if I remember correctly. Lucy Pearl came out of Lynwood Rose’s remnants.
I’ll look for a link to the interview that mentioned them.
Well had a little butchers of this album and obviously there was some choonz heard before and other really good mixes especially that 2008 mix for Midnight Marauders, rewound it about 10 times LOL. Lets see what this new album brings!
