Even though 99.7854% of the NBA analysts out there picked the Lakers and Cavs to play in the Finals, but we all know what happens to the best-laid plans. Now, I’m not going to count Cleveland out; I’ll leave that to all of you. Orlando’s had trouble closing things out and LeBron is LeBron.

Regardless, I bet Nike (and the suits at Vitamin Water too) is all sorts of hyperventilating and panicking with egg on their faces after pumping seemingly millions into a Bron/Kobe battle that we may not see. This is all too reminiscent of a similarly embarrassing situation Reebok put itself in back in 1992.

That said, it’s been 10 years, an eon in the rap world, since the blunt brothers teamed up for the original, and now, they’ve finally returned with their follow up effort: Blackout! 2. Saying Hip-Hop has changed a considerable amount in the past decade is akin to McDonald’s® placing “caution: Hot!” labels on their coffee cups. Mike Tyson has been the butt of jokes and center of ridicule sympathy for the past 20 years. Now, after the fascinating documentary Tyson, and an endearing turn in The Hangover, the shift in momentum has allowed people to warm up to the misunderstood figure. Things have been looking up over the past few months.

But things have never been easy for Mike.

News broke last night that his 4-year-old daughter is on life support after a freak accident left her throat tangled in a treadmill cord and now she is in critical condition.

If anyone has seen the documentary (if you haven’t, stop what you’re doing and go now. It’s simply amazing), then you’ll know how important Mike’s family is to him. He spoke of them as if they were his chance at redemption and relative normalcy.

“I just want to see my kids get married and graduate from school,” Mike said in the film. “I want to see Mike Tyson with a grandchild. I wonder what that’s going to be like.” He cites them as the reason he even went to rehab to pull himself together. By the time the Tyson documentary was over, it’s easy to root for Mike and his happiness. However, here appears to be another tragic chapter in his life.

Hopefully Mike’s daughter can recover. Just know I’ll be sending one up to the Most High for the whole Tyson family.
