Joell Ortiz - “Children’s Story” x “Get Money”
AUDIO By Gotty™ on May 8, 2009 at 4:16 pmFunny, this became a topic of discussion the other day, with most figuring it had gone the way of mice & men. But according to Legend’s email this morn, it is hosted by Green Lantern. It is still releasing, on Tuesday via OS. And it is looking rather hot judging by the cover treatment & the two tracks below. Hit the break for “Children’s Story” and “Get Money” and check out the sampler if you need a reminder on what this is going to sound like.

So as I was saying a few days ago, soon they will be attempting cover versions of bonafide hip hop classics. Not to say I told you so, but I told you so.
Uhmm…you know this project has been in the works for a minute now right? So you’re right…but not exactly right in this case.
love the mixtape cover…takes me back
Still like Blackstarr’s Children Story a little better… maybe because it fit that whole album so nicely. Looki’ fwd to tuesday tho. (or sunday night around 12:30 am knowing you mofos!)
yaooooowahhhhhhhhhh
@Gotty, man they’ve been doing this shit on radio shows for years, put on a classic hip hop beat and then an emcee spits a rendition or ‘freestyle’ over it.
But whatever, I guess Joell’s like the rest of us and he got to eat, so I’ll cut him some slack.
Cot damn i love this dude.
(no Rawls)
I cant wait for this damn mixtape.
@baby paw,
yeah this tape is in line with his primo classic, aftermath, purple tape, pun tributes. he’s put out.
looks like relapse might only get a few days in rotation before it’s replaced with this
@xg4sx, those tapes I did not know about.
Were those preceding ‘tapes’ free downloads?
Didn’t that Thirstin Howl III dude do something similar some years ago?
they werent full tapes. just free’s over the beats from the albums. they are on various mixtapes put out in the past 6mo or so.

Next thing you know they’ll be covering Rapper’s Delight.
@xg4sx, thanks for the lowdown.
@Anon, I’m gulty of covering that one myself during karaoke nights over at the Golden Dragon eating place.
