Even though we are all casually aware of his T-Pain-assisted hit, “Who The Fuck Is That?,” most of us still have no idea who the ATL-based rapper Dolla really is.
That’s probably the reason behind his new joint “Georgia Nights.”
Instead of leaking the typical club song as the lead-in to his sophomore album, A Dollar And A Dream, this one-hit wonder is attempting to dig a bit deeper. Over some heavy snares and a high-pitched Bruce Benton sample, Dolla releases some angst as he speaks on touchy subjects including a troubled childhood and deceased father. To top it off, the rain and thunder mixed into the song courtesy of Ear Hustla couldn’t be more appropriate.
If you can get past your preconceptions and are contemplating giving Dolla another shot, “Georgia Nights” is a good place to start.
