MTV.com is reporting that Ashanti will be released from Murder Inc.
According to Irv Gotti, the two aren’t on speaking terms and “The relationship has run its course.” Damn. I mean, I know we haven’t heard from her in awhile, but, really? I thought she was all The Inc. had going these days. Apparently not, because the rebuilding process over on Gotti’s Way takes about as long as it does here at Ford Field. Come to think of it, with 15 million in sales under that Donna Karan belt of hers, Nelly’s girl might just be better off elsewhere.
Either way, I wish her well. Ever since she laced Joey’s third verse on “What’s Luv” about seven years ago, I’ve always wanted to put it on her. All over her might actually be more like it.

I thought it was over already. I’m sure this is just to make it official. Shots were fired at Irv on the “Declaration” track from her last album so obviously shit was sour for a while.
Gettin Dropped from Murda Inc is like getting sent home from Rikers. It’s a good thing. it’s not like Murda Inc is the a Top Label. in fact who is still even on Murda Inc. Rule. Ashanti should be so lucky.

The main thing is how is Murda Inc still in business. She & Vanessa Carlton were the only artists. That’s like shooting yourself in the foot Irv.
Ashanti supposedly writes a lot of her stuff so maybe she’ll catch on as a writer in somebody’s camp.

The relationship between Ashanti and Irv/Rule has been down the drain for years. Ja Rule addressed it on the unreleased song, “Judas” from the first supposed Mirror album. Also, he lyrically jabbed Miss. Douglas on Exodus in 2006. Irv and Ja have been masterminding a comeback since 2006, but both realize that Ashanti does not fit into the mold of the Inc. They are going to quarterback the ‘Gwop Boys’ moniker to build buzz for Rule’s Mirror, which is coming out this year but so far not planned since he fucked his fans twice before on release dates. This is typical Irv Gotti business-bullshit. He’s going to drop Ashanti a couple weeks before his second season of his show debuts? Ja jumps on the Maybach Remix as Ross’ third opus hits shelves?
It’s all business and Irv and Ja have mentally severed Ashanti from their business a long time ago. I think that’s one of the reasons why Irv granted Ja the Mpire imprint. They both want to distance themselves from the ‘It’s Murdaaah… Inc’ style of sing-song rap, and my cutting Ashanti loose, it’s like they are coming full circle with their past success. People gotta realize that Ja was selling a shit ton of records even before Ashanti dropped in April 2002. Irv is betting his flagship meal ticket can do it again, and I think he can… but we’ll see.
Addendum: oh, and Ashanti will probably sign to Aftermath, release a diss song featuring 50 Cent with Nelly on the hook… and just when people think she’ll succeed, 50 Cent will feature her in a commercial for his Vitamin water and she’ll be singing with a bunch of muppets on Sesame Street for exchange skrilla writing a tell-all book about Irv’s addiction to Vicodin and Viagra.
Rap is almost like a Maury Povich show nowadays.

Ashanti is one of the perfect singers today. She is truly gorgeous and has a voice to go along with it. Everybody just needs to chill out with them saying that she can’t sing. Obviously she can if she making more money than most people today:-p
