Like Gotty ™ said, all Funk music isn’t ancient history and some people are still creating it. Orgone is one such group and I actually stumbled upon them while taking in the Scion Live Metro Series, where they opened and then backed the likes of Bun B, Skillz, Buckshot, Special Ed & a few other acts. The group kills live and really defy genres,  as the amount of slashes needed to describe their music would make Kordell Stewart have to pick a new nickname.

Here the California based group covers Issac Hayes’ “Do Your Thing” off their 2007 album The Killion Floor and they definitely do it justice.

And here’s the orignal version by the legend his self, who would probably be the first person who’d be elected to the Daily Funk Hall Of Fame.  I also gotta shout out my dad for actually making it though a concert where Issac was dressed like this and said Mr. Hayes spent as much time ducking and dodging bras and panties as he did singing.
