Been checking for his work for a long minute. I don’t recall this many sung hooks, drawn-out syllables and synths in the past. We’ll keep waiting on the album, but I’m a little worried.
I’m on track #17 right now… I’m impressed at his growth since Star Power. Khalifa needs an album to drop ASAP.
speaking as a pittsburgh native who went to the same highschool as Wiz, i am pretty amped for this mixtape.

i knew dude when i was djing back in PA. i was one of his biggest supporters in the tri-state and rocked many a show with his bangers. prince of the city mixtape, show and prove, prince 2, all pretty dope. this is…well, not quite as dope imo.
i’m afraid that wiz has been following the yellow brick road a little too closely. the kid hasn’t really gotten the shine he’s deserved imo the last 5 years, but his solution seems to be to merge into the realm of the hipster, auto-tune, “unique” cookie-cutter flavor of the weak. don’t get me wrong, i don’t think it’s complete garbage…i’m just not that impressed b/c i’ve definitely heard better from him.

I can definitely see what has happened to Wiz. He used to be on the more gangster-rapper tip and was only receiving mixtape hype and acclaim from his work. I’m sure he became discouraged because he wasn’t making the money he thought he should be, and he decided to start switching his style up. I remember in October I saw a new Wiz Khalifa video and someone had commented that he was trying way too hard to become Lil’ Wayne. He never used to sing on hooks- he just rapped and thats the way it was. He also used to have a totally different style, and he repped his tattoos for their “gangster-quality” rather than trying to pretend they have some sort of musical symbolism with that music note on his neck getting touched up for the cover.

I know im late to all this old Khalifa yall refer to, but i’ve downloaded a lot of his shit. IDK if because he’s a new voice in my head, but he got some good shit. Your not gon like or listen to every track, but i know i listen to most of his tracks. Prince of the city 2 was the hardest 1 i’ve heard. Im check out that show and prove since yall say its the best he has done.
im from p town n all i know is that flight school and star power really dissappointed me. hes finally given in to all that mainstream bullshit and sounds like everyone else usin whack as beats n auto tune. he needs to go back to how he was for prince of the city. i love his music but he needs to take a step back
