I know I had some pretty choice words for Gentry & Co. last year, but all is forgiven. I got my Black/Red XI’s (’01 Retro deadstock) so it’s water under the bridge. That and the fact that the Space Jams are being released around Christmas. Yeah, that’s a long time away, but I’m gonna need two pairs of these.
I had these when they came out in ’01, but sadly my foot grew (@ 22?!?) and I got rid of them before I wanted to. The icy soles and all black upper are too much to turn down. So all is forgiven Jordan Brand…as long as I get my 2 pairs.
I got the silica packs waiting.

yo, I know I’m beating a dead horse, but the quality on the retros for the past couple years has been hella wack.
2 of my favorite Js, the III’s & XI’s that were released as part of the DMP’s just seemed flimsy & shoddy as all get out. Just eyeballing them while they’re sittin’ on the wall at the show store is enough to know they weren’t built to last. Like the patent leather on the XI’s seemed really thin & cardboardish.
I dunno about shaking that Nike monkey off my back, but Gentry & all of Jordan Brand’s retros are lame.
If they can get the quality right on the Space Jams, I’d be really surprised, & I want them to get it right cuz I want ‘em, lol

@ Gotty – i can see why you venture off the beaten path with the Footscapes, Rifts, & other models that aren’t as popular but still have a cult following. The colorways & silhouettes are fresh & unique, while the quality is what you’d expect from a first-run non-retro shoe.
The build on the J’s back then was so much better; I just don’t understand why they can’t meet or exceed that nowadays when they have a lower production run. It sucks that they skimp on quality just to add more to their bottom line.

best part about XI’s with black mesh/nylon: you can rock ‘em with jeans and not have to worry about the indigo/dyes running on the shoes

I def feel you about the quality Teef, cuz the 01 retros are so butter withthe quality of materials. But I’m still gonna need at least one pair. The design is too clean, unless I can find some reasonable 01 space jams ( but those soles will be super yellow)

I’m a pseudo-snob when it comes to acoustics in venues. I dunno if you’ve been to Liv on 11th & U, right above Bohemian Caverns, but I don’t think that place is well-suited to performances, but that’s me.
Most of the crowd were like trees….hip-hop mannequins, bobble-heads, nodding their heads, didn’t look like much fun….until Blu & Exile took the stage.

The thing about the Space Jams is they were a unattainable for so long and now they’re available. I was waiting for them joints to come even after the XII’s came out.

I liked “The Last Kiss” but I didn’t think it sounded very East Coast, aside from Jada’s rhymes. Another New York rapper who’s album sounds custom made for every region but New York. Even the MJG featured joint is a “Live Ya Life” re-tread.

I never really thought about the quality aspect but the colors & silhouettes is true. It’s not really so much about popular opinion regarding a shoe, it’s if it catches my eye as something appealing by it look, “new technology? I wonder how these feel. I’ll give’em a shot.” Factors like that.
Thank God I still have mines in great condition, cause you know Jordan/Nike will put a crazy price on them when they drop. Or put them in one of those Packs with the ugliest pair they can find. lol
Having never owned a pair of XI’s, I’m sure I will be in line for these.
I agree with all post on the quality of Retros. Nike/Jordan Brand are using more environmentally safe materials = deteriorates faster = less wear for us. So are all over sneaker companies. It’s a love it or leave it alone scenario
But I am a bit heated that Nike is bringing them back out because everybody will have them now. This one of the first kicks I bought multiple pairs of I still got I pair on ice from ’01 and the pair have only slight wear no Yellowing.
I might as well sell the Deadstock pair now and get the pay day. Then cop a few in December.
