GENERAL By TC on April 10, 2009 at 11:10 pmThe original “Mafia Music” made Deeper Than Rap by far the most anticipated album of 2009. The remix?
Well it’s resurrecting the G-UNot campaign.
Crack a cigar, eat a steak, load a clip and watch the film. The BAWSE is back in the driver’s seat. April 21st…

By far the most anticipated TC? Come on. Relapse is supposed to drop, OB4CLII and Detox each have an outside chance too.
What I wanna know is: Who Is Rick Ross’ ghostwriter? lol, dude stepped his game up…and it’s not just his lyrics, but his delivery.
I gotta admit, Deeper Than Rap is sounding like it’s gonna be in the same tier as Paper Trail & The Recession
Relapse is supposed to drop, OB4CLII and Detox each have an outside chance too.

I’ll believe both of these will drop when I see it. Cuban II, yeah, it’s coming for sure (More on that later). But are you really anticipating it or just glad it’s finally releasing after all these years?
But Detox? Psssh lol. It’s already pushed back b/c Em is dropping. Jimmy I. pretty much admitted that in a recent interview.
Ross…right now this nigga is on FIRE lol. Can’t even say I’m a huge fan but good music is good music.
Dare I say the best music is coming from…the South…still, after several years of dominance.
No doubt does it have potential to be dope? But “most anticipated?” No way does it sell more than Relapse. Regardless of which is better, not a chance.
No way does it sell more than Relapse.
———————————-
So, by this logic, Jonas Brothers & Hannah Montana are “better” b/c they sell more?
More evidence of Fif fuckin’ up the game lol (a game he can’t even keep up in anymore).
the actual music > sales
Definitely not “most anticipated” for me either. But I do want to hear it b/c he’s connected w/every leaked track thus far.
@ Teef
Iunno. Trilla was the same type of shit. Definitely didn’t have the same type of hype circulating it (good job on Ross part) but his flows been liquid.
@ jesse
Cuban Linx & Detox been slated to drop for HOW LONG NOW? Ain’t nobody waiting on that shit but…well..you.
As for Relapse, well you saw the comments in David’s post.
@teef
Deeper than rap looks more like its gonna be a step up from those imo. I honestly think fat ricky might have genuine banger on his hands.
——————————————————————————-
-Out of the upcoming releases in the next 2 months I say deeper than rap definitinely is most anticipated. It isnt gonna outsell relapse and it isnt gonna be close but it will have its place and it sounds like I might buy it before i bought relapse.
Most anticipated for me cuz I don;t even really care about what em’s gonna do.
Dare I say the best music is coming from…the South…still, after several years of dominance
====================================================
I was waiting for someone to say this lol. I don’t know about the “several years of dominance” bit though.
And that song with Foxy shows that there’s at least one dud on the album.
Yeah but what other region has held it down more? And if so, who did it on their behalf?
^ I didn’t bother downloading the song w/ Foxy cuz I knew better, lol
The South has ran the radio since 2005 when “Still Tippin” became more popular than anything on The Massacre.
Albums?
Last year for sure.
2007? Iuuno
American Gangster, Desire, Lupe Fiasco’s The Cool, Big Doe Rehab, Graduation, Finding Forever, Ear Drum, and if you wanna be technical, Getback all reigned supreme.

aka ‘rappers 50 has beefed with – mafia music rmx”
Yeah but what other region has held it down more?
=======================================
Depends on how you define “held it down”. The South’s gotten alot of exposure & there are new artist’s & albums dropping every month. That doesn’t mean that even 50% of it is quality.
“quit hatin the south” (c) i-can’t-remember-who…the south has definitely been holdin it down for at least a few years now…NY is dead, Philly had it’s moment in the sun (sorry, hometown), the midwest is hit-and-miss and the west coast is still on it’s phoenix-like rise out of the ashes…the south has had more hits, more successful acts, more sales, etc. than any other region in the last five or so years, hands down…face it east coast cats (self included), the south is winnin
this circumstances leading up to the release of Ricky’s 3rd album are interesting, considering that this may very well be a Top 10 rap album for 2009.
1) He lied about his past.
2) A “beef” with Curtis (manufactured or genuine, who knows?) led to a truly embarrassing public lashing by Fiddy.
It seems to me that fans are willing to overlook those transgressions & missteps and are excited to finally hear some quality music…hell, look at that Wayne & Baby kissing incident, which might’ve set a precedent for what we gives passes for…
in the end, it’s all about the music though
*update in the Asher post*
i dont even enjoy ross that much ( his best shit was rise to power), but im anticipating this.
fat joe got a good verse, ross goin at 50. its cheesy but it entertainment. its got my attention, but does that mean he’s goona get sales and goes plantinum ?
g-g-gunot.
Fucc sales. It’s all about Cigs.
American Gangster, Desire, Lupe Fiasco’s The Cool, Big Doe Rehab, Graduation, Finding Forever, Ear Drum, and if you wanna be technical, Getback all reigned supreme.
=============================
Don’t forget UGK..Made snuck in there too. Rich Boy caught some buzz when he released “lets get this paper”
If you wanna be technical, The South been holdin it down since Luda n T.I. came on the scene
^^^
Yeah those were in there but I was speaking on the East Coast
If you wanna be technical, The South been holdin it down since Luda n T.I. came on the scene

What is this “holdin it down”?
Fucc sales. It’s all about Cigs.

Applaud this man
Yeah those were in there but I was speaking on the East Coast
========================
No you weren’t….The Cool, Graduation, Finding Forever= Midwest, Getback=South(NC)
What is this “holdin it down”?
========================
Puttin in work
Gotty, never said those records would be “better.” I know sales never equals quality. But if you use the term “most anticipated” that usually DOES apply ad translate to record sales.
Co-Sign on the South running things for about a half-decade plus though.
I don’t care what anybody says, putting Ja on a track and acting like it’s worth something — anything — at this point, is just laughable.
I’d be distancing myself from the corpses in 50’s yard if I was Ross.
(As always, Game comes correct.)
PS: “I say shit that you can’t say”? Really? 50’s known to run his mouth like a fool.
PPS: He also contradicts himself with his Biblical references: “David meet Goliath. The meek shall inherit the Earth.” I’m pretty sure that David was the meek one in that story. Keep tryin’ Bawse.
My bad, I think he says “David beat Goliath”. But Ross be lookin’ like Goliath on the cover of that XXL issue.
This did seem kinda pointless but screw it, I feel it. What the hell is going on with Game’s voice? Did Ja just kill that verse?
“Dare I say the best music is coming from…the South…still, after several years of dominance”
And the sad part is that the rappers who everyone keeps claiming are bringing NY back haven’t been up to par with their work. Awwwwwww sh*t. Wu Tang and Jada anyone? lol Naaawww I still love em though. Ghostface!!
Where’s Curtis? Does this guy really have no music to put out? Truth be told, it’s looking like the 50 show is about to shut down if a hot track doesn’t come out soon.
“quit hatin the south” (c) i-can’t-remember-who…the south has definitely been holdin it down for at least a few years now
======================================
Pimp Chad said that.
damn ross kind of shitted on fifty in that verse.
anyone else catch that?
sounds like the same ghost writer game uses
These cats from here in the east keep fucking up b/c they’re trying to cater to too many lanes/regions (The Mims syndrome), and there
don’t seem to be many NEW artists sprouting up to carry on tradition IMO.
Whoever you are, tick w/ what you know, and what you do best, take calculated risks from time to time, then, most importantly, do it well (ala Ghostface)…
It prolly won’t translate into sales necessarily, but that’s not what this is about, right?
A guy like Blu (and Lupe) has generated more buzz doing “NY shit” than any NEW New York MC in recent memory for two obvious reasons. He rhymes WELL, he’s original w/ how he expresses himself (he flips his cadences, etc – Hello Talib, Jada, etc)
You can’t anticipate what you’re going to hear from track to track when it comes to the best MC’s, and other than Ghostface and *drumroll* DOOM (who now resides in ATL lol, I can’t think of anyone else other than Mos, who surprises me from track to track.
“NY rap” is still alive n’ well… It’s just being done better by other regions at the moment.
* stick
Oh yeah, please don’t include C Hamilton in that NEW NY list… just don’t.
what happened to games voice
its a bit different sounds like he got sick
XD
Most anticipated album for me: MF DOOM – “Born Like This”. The album is sick!!! I can only fuck with certain South music, but only in brief increments. The Southern cats have more catchy singles in video/radio rotation, but their albums fall short in regards to quality. So, if we’re basing “holdin’ it down” on popularity, exposure, and singles then yeah the South runs it.
Game’s still rappin?
Ja Rule is still rappin?
raaaaawwwwsss.
i just like sayin dat :P
gotty’s right. i’m from NYC & i admit the south been holdin’ shit down. i always dug southern music, tho. early 3-6 mafia, master p & tru when they 1st dropped, geto boys… niggaz in my hood thought i was buggin’. but i just like hot shit no matter where it’s from. niggaz in NYC should learn from the south… not so much rap styles but the south’s indie spirit. NYC niggaz keep runnin’ & signin wit “major” labels that ain’t gonna never put they shit out.
i ain’t even know ross & fif was still beefin, i got bored with it & lost track. but rick ross makes good music & i’ll go even further. as it stands NOW, rick ross makes BETTER music than 50. i don’t give a fuck who agrees, i’m just sayin.

Shit, I had to give it 2 listens to find Games verse! sounds like he quit smokin, or bought a vaporizer or something.
Read his (game’s) verse was done after performing. Thus the voice.
Back in the day people like Ross and Game wouldnt even get a pass.
Anyone who remembers a lady called Boss?
Nowadays people who lack realness getting passes for anything..
“As long as they make good music”-bladiebla….in the meanwhile the whole artform is dying. Allready sold out..
Only reason why the South “holding it down” is because in the south they were the last to know how to download music.
Matter of fact, they still havent figured it out yet…
They the only ones that still be buying..
but anybody noticed they shit never got worldwide recognition?
^ I’m from the South. I been known how to download.never got recognition? U.G.K, Outkast, geto boys,eightball & MJG, T.I., Lil Wayne, Young Jeezy, even Chamillionaire all do shows worldwide.
@Mad Max
You still believe in the Easter Bunny doncha?
I’m from the South and I download AND buy more music than you, but if the south being behind makes the music better I am all for it
why did game lower himself to the level of rick ross and ja rule. ricks got no idea what he’s getting himself into he is annoying boss boss boss i dont beleive in fake ppl as for ja rule stik to girls songs at least u will make money. game get back with 50 everyone wants it
