Rich Boy successfully walks a fine line in Hip-Hop, one that others have attempted to negotiate. His music can at times be an insightful commentary on what surrounds him (“Get That Paper“). At other times, it can be as ignorant and raw as it gets (“Throw Some D’s”). This track is probably closer to the latter.
Nevertheless, this guy just always seems to impress me with almost everything that he puts out. Maybe he keeps expectations low on purpose and then exceeds them only to look great in the end (a recipe for success), but eff it. It’s good music and I cosign. One thing is assured is that he brings energy, an enthusiasm. Rich Boy easily wraps his voice around and catches the melody of the strangely energetic yet slow beat produced by Drumma Boy.

man, this guy is from my hometown, and when i first heard him years ago on that timbo track, i was underwhelmed. but since “throw some d’s” he has been killing it. this track is sick.

I wasn’t as impressed with his debut as some, but that “Bigger Then The Mayor” was a bang-out.
First album & Bigger Than…were both hard. He’s in that Jeezy lane where cats just won’t accept that what he does is just as much hip-hop as anything put out by artists traditionally from the coasts.
Man that tape was dope as fuck and so was his debut. I was one of the believers back then. Throw some D’s had me at hello. I luuuuuh that real ig’nant shit.

Rich Boy is so underrated due to his voice.. Dude’s just a dope artist period.
But how can you defend songs like “Touch That Ass”, “What It Do” or “Hustla Ball Gangsta Mack”?
The growth from “Rich Boy” to “Bigger Then The Mayor” is significant & “It’s Over” sounds like the logical progression. “Buried Alive” is definitely on the radar.
I don’t know to accept him as a real hip-hop artist. Cud sum of the cosigners put me in the right direction of his BETTER trax. I guess u can say im’a a purist lol but i give everybody a try, I really do. His verse on “ghetto” with nas was not dissapointing so if he has more verses of the sort or better i wud welcome a listen?

I can’t lie I sorta hate on dude cause he is from the Heart of Dixie just like I am.. But I hate because as long as he is pushing to get my respect he is doing good.
