Normally when we break the week down we go through and pick what we deem worthy of being highlighted again or feel was missed the first time. But in reality, your remarks play a big part in what we around here and this week our comments section had the internets going nuts © Paul Wall so to speak. So for TWTW, we decided to go with what you deemed worthy, by tallying which posts had the most comments. Read the rest of this entry »
Big Homie Young Lil Teef passed these to me, which originated @ OKP (props to Abraheezee). All types of Quik-ness for your hard drives. In fact, five dics worth. Read the rest of this entry »
If you ask the average Hip-Hop fan who Mims is, they’ll merely tell you the “This Is Why I’m Hot” star is your typical one-hit wonder. Ask Shawn Mims the same and he’ll tell you he’s a hungry rapper from NYC who just happens to have a hit. Still, no one can disagree that his rington-ed entrance wasn’t the most reputable of first impressions, even Mims himself. Which is probably why he decided to name his latest LP Guilt for the remorse he feels due to his success. But it’s not the spoils of success he should feel guilty from this time around. It’s his bland persona and forgettable track selection that should take the bulk of the blame for this sophomoric slump.
Guilt isn’t without it’s bright spots however, as Mims does manage to at least lick the creative envelope once or twice throughout. Jim Jonsin’s enigmatic sonic creation sets the template Read the rest of this entry »
This post is two-fold.
I was cleaning & organizing the closet when I decided to take a pic of these. I mentioned before that I was going to dumb out with these. Only one pair was purchased @ retail price. The rest, well below. If I can score one more, I should be good to go for the next decade or until Nike decides to bring them back again. Why the multiples? Because they go with everything and…it’s just a bad habit I have. I do it with everything, but more on that for another post.
While “I Got A Habit” fits as a title for the picture, Cool C’s “Glamorous Life” was more of my jam. But in my book, Steady B. > Cool C. for Philly cats not named Schooly D. When I was young, I used to practice Read the rest of this entry »
What do you do when your album fails to gain traction upon its release? You release outlandish statements of course! (Eh, Rick?) In a recent sitdown with GIANT Magazine, Lamborghini-Big-Bank-Bow had the audacity to rip into artists that relied on Auto-Tune for a song or two.
“It makes everyone feel that if they do it then they got a hit record. It’s like a slut that’s being passed around, and everyone’s jumping on it.”
I mean, where do we start? Nevermind the fact that Ron Browz and Read the rest of this entry »
Bits & pieces of what seems to be the album cover for This Ain’t No Mixtape. I was just telling Legend the other day how I’m surprised a toker like Curren$y isn’t releasing on 4.20 instead of 4.21. Either way, I’m ready to hear the final product. Read the rest of this entry »
Here’s an alternative to Timbs for the winter, in the form of Nike’s ACG Ashiko Boot. Flywire & wire mesh across the midfoot & ankle to provide support like a traditional boot, but without the usual heavy feel. Slated for Holiday 2009 so you’ve got time to make your mind up. Hit the break for more images. Read the rest of this entry »

Emphasis on the “Em” in the title. It’s plagued him ever since he rose to notoriety by appearing on that XXL cover and will more than likely follow him well into the 2nd quarter of his career. But the questions will never cease unless Asher records it for all to reference. A million interviews only dilute the message. The people needed a song…and well… Read the rest of this entry »
Well it looks like Eminem’s comeback is officially in full swing. He’s dropping videos and songs and lacing artists — his artists with some of that Mathers’ in-house production. While Relapse takes aim of the big stage in May, Read the rest of this entry »

Moka is an artist you don’t see too often on TSS (periodically though) and it doesn’t surprise me because he doesn’t get much love from anywhere or anyone outside of his hometown Vancouver, Canada. (Victoria, BC to be precise). He had his 15 minutes of fame by collaborating with Swollen Members when they made a name for themselves circa 2003-04, but quickly fell back to relative obscurity after that.
What I must say about this guy is that he is on the grind 24/7, putting out anywhere from one to three albums each year. Off The Station Agent, this track is one Read the rest of this entry »
