“Sweatpants and Bo Jacksons,
Listening to Pac ‘Teardrops & Closed Caskets‘
Story got told that was oh so tragic
Everyday in the Crescent the same shit happen
Nigga get clapped & retaliation follow
Homey killed whoadie,
Whoadie homies gone kill homey tomorrow
Oblivious to it, I ride in my Monte Carlo
Penning my rhymes of happiness, not sorrow
Though I know shit from sugar, niggas’ll push ya
That’s why when my brother offered me a burner I took it
Pray I never have to use it, but I keep it baby
Cause it seem the cool niggas getting killed lately
And I’ll be damned, nevermind, I put it behind
DeLorean doing 85, I travel through time
That’s how I got that old game
Leaning on the Azure
Momma said ‘Nice car’
I’m like ‘This old thing?’”
The first time we posted this, it was more like a simple passing of material, assuming cats would absorb it & champion Spit Vicious’ cause. At times it feels like he’s overlooked because he does come off so unassuming. Kicks, weed, old cars & enjoying his life seem to be the same topics. In between all that, he speeds up the pace & drops what could be called social awareness. Not really, but it could be. Casual observances I guess.
First I thought it was just me that was really stuck on this track until I asked TC & he said it was on repeat for him since he saw it live. This second verse is littered with wordplay & graphic details. And by the time the beat starts to hit a plinking drop part of the way through, you’re wrapped up in the short description being spit.
So let’s try this again.

Curren$y – “Scared Of Monsters”
BONUS — $pitta chops it up with 2-Cent regarding his career thus far, his fallout with Wayne & the release of This Ain’t No Mixtape .

that beat is somethin serious…i’m still not all the way sold on hot spitta…sometimes he comes the fuck off (like here, for example), and other times his flow is too lazy and doesn’t seem polished or complex at all…but maybe that’s cuz he was droppin mixtape material, not album ish…i guess we’ll see
No lie, this came up on the ipod on the way home.
Good Shit!
LOVE this track. I’m actually gonna buy his album, not just download.
And a car head like me’s gotta point out it’s Azure, not Azzure.
Nice verse.
Can’t wait to hand 10.99 over next Tuesday. He’s earned it.
Once again… I choose to boycott any posts that refer back to what I missed at SXSW. lol
j/k
I’m looking forward to this album. This joint, Deeper Than Rap, and Back To The Feature will accompany me on my trip to LA & San Diego in a couple of weeks.
BTW… anyone know of any sneaker shops I need to hit up in LA?
yeah i can’t wait for “this aint no mixtape” to drop
I shall be buying this album….the song wit bun>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I’m going to say this right now: Curren$y is AZ # 2. And I mean that as a BIG compliment. I’ve listened to his mixtapes and his lyrics are like vivid paintings that draw you in, just like how AZ’s lyrics do. Though their are differences between them, they both have this magnetic power which allows them to pull the listener into their world. Some rappers need to be passionate or intense to pull the reader in, but AZ and Curren$y have a nonchalant style that allows them to effortlessly grab you.
Let him drop an album, he will be the ultimate problem. No Joke.
LA Sneaker spots. Hit up Flight club on Fairfax. Or just hit up Melrose. They got a grip of stores that carry exclusives and tight kicks.
SPITTA!!!
Great interview
Curren$y on No Limit > Curren$y on Cash Money.
I’ve been tryna tell people he’s hot but they can’t see past their precious prima donnas Kid Cudi & Charles Hamilton. Kinda off topic but am I the only person waiting for Jay-Z to get his hands on the Maybach Music 2 beat and lyrically make love to it?
Jets my ninja!!! Curren$y is too dope, I like the fact that on his mixtapes he flows over a variety of beats.
I’m going to say this right now: Curren$y is AZ # 2.

That actually sounds like a logical comparison.
AZ # 2?
Hmm…
A little less grit, but yeah, that sounds right.
Yea but comparin him to AZ is a problem to me. Nas is a legend and Weezy F is a legend but that dont mean AZ or Spitta are a lesser or alternate product to their more known ex-homeboy. I think at this point AZ makes better hiphop than Nas and Spitta is passin Wayne slowly but surely!

SMH
I’ve had this song and Spitta’s “Reagan Era” on rotate nonstop for the past couple weeks. He’s fast becoming one of my favorites in the game.
Currensy always been nice wit it…… But I doubt he gonna ever catch on big with the masses
Meanwhile ……autotune rappers murdering the charts
