I hated “Crack A Bottle” at first too… but it slowly grew on me.

I’m sorry this is album just might be the sequel to Encore. The word play is decent but there isn’t any substance to the song. He should have just dissed rappers or talked about the bad quality of hip hop bein put out. But instead he added to the problem. This track is goin to destroy all the hype around Relapse. I’ve been a fan since he released The SS EP, everyone of his singles had a catch to it but this had me lookin at how much longer it had till it was over. And I really don’t like talkin bad about any artist especially Eminem. I can only hope this album has some material similar to The Eminem show.

As a fan of Eminem, I’m embarrassed for him. His first singles were always goofy, but the lyrics were rapped out clearly, his rhymes were clever and interesting, and the beats weren’t as grating as this one. It’s a big loop.
The other problem: This man is 36 years old. I don’t care to hear my grandfather rap, but I don’t want to hear him rapping about farting, shitting his pants, and sprouting an alfalfa. The only people who would think these lyrics are funny are either kids young enough to be his children or fans so hardcore that he could put out a burping loop for 3 minutes and they’d still call it fire.
This song makes me very sad. Eminem is one of the greatest rappers of all time. He became known as that because he rapped with intensity, desperation, and confidence. He rapped about his life. After five years, and entering his late 30′s, one would think Eminem would once again do some soul searching and use music as an outlet for his frustrations and pain. His best friend was shot to death. His daughter is growing up. He’s getting older. I am very surprised that what he chose to do is make armpit noises for 14 year old boys. I expected something silly, but I also expected a song with clarity. He slurs so badly that I can’t understand most of what he’s saying, he name drops for the sake of name dropping (There is no punchline there), and he seems uncomfortable- like he’s trying to impress someone. How can someone who is that talented and that big be satisfied to leave behind their original fanbase?

It’s definitely too early to judge the entire project but I can’t be the only one who thinks that despite his enormous talent Em’s never made a decent album and has only a handful of half decent or decent songs in his back catalogue – look at Jay-Zs discography, it’s just monster after monster, and Em lyrically murders every track but the beats are always just meh. So to see the exact same marketing campaign that’s built up to every other lacklustre album he’s put out doesn’t inspire a great deal of confidence…
He needs to do a link up with Royce, Elzhi and Black Milk and if that happens he can put out another 20 pieces of crap like this and it won’t matter, but to consistently downplay your intelligence and talent chasing the pop dollar, whilst simultaneously promising so much and failing to deliver for the hip hop listener….it’s enough to make me give Asher Roth a listen.

Personally, when I first heard I was like “wtf happened Em?” But then I listened to how he was rapping, and the lyrics and all that good stuff, and its actually really good. Look back at his other albums and their leading singles, take The Slim Shady LP for example, My Name Is wasn’t the best song on that album, far from infact, but that album was dope as f***. It is to this day one of his best albums (The Slim Shady LP & The Marshall Mathers LP were his best imo.) Both of those singles had the same jokey, spoofy kind of feel to them, but both lead into dope ass albums. At the end of the day, when have we ever been able to tell what Em’s albums will be like from the singles he releases? Imo, Never. Im still really hopefull for Relapse, I have alot of trust in Em to bring us all, yet another, dope album. He’s back to his old way of releasing albums, a jokey light-hearted single, but a dope as f*** album. Im pretty excited for Relapse and i think it will be sick. Em knows what he’s doing. ;D!

I hear a lot of people excusing this song as just another one of his stupid pop singles. No one is complaining that this song is a pop song. I would have enjoyed another clever pop song. What people are complaining about is that it’s a bad pop song.
And please do not compare this song to his other first singles. It is a complete departure from that formula. This song is missing the personal elements that caught the attention of fans. His first singles were pop, but they were also an introduction to what we were interested in most: Eminem. Those songs were about Eminem. Have you heard My name is?? That is not a jumbled mess of lyrics about celebrities. You have personal glimpses into his stage persona: Ninety-nine percent of my life I was lied to. I just found out my mom does more drugs than I do… And by the way, when you see my dad, tell him I slit his throat in this dream I had… These are disturbing, personal statements that made a listener interested in what he had to say next.
The real slim shady? Perfect for the time period. He name drops, but he’s rapping about people he’s personally involved with: Fred Durst, Carson Daily. He mentions celebrities, but there’s a punchline in every line. He’s NOT mentioning random celebrities. Without me is about Eminem, too. He’s rapping about himself in relation to current pop music. He’s still very aware of his place in pop culture. He’s saying hi again.
Lose yourself was the first beginning of the end, but he still exhibits self-awareness. He realizes there’s nothing else much to say to grab your attention. He’s drifting on this one, beginning to seem unsure of his place in pop culture, but he’s still there on the track somewhere.

I couldn’t get the song out of my head, and not in a good way. It’s disturbing on its own level because I wonder if he’s actually lost his mind, if he’s not even there anymore, and he’s going through the motions of this slim shady stuff because he doesn’t know who to be anymore. I saw him in a couple of interviews about this song and he looks insane, just really insane, like no time has passed at all. It’s creepy.

No One: Nothing about himself? He says he’s back, he mentions the rest of his album, he give commentary on current pop culture. What more do you want? We already know he’s a bit quirky, we already know that his mom and ex-wife were crazy. I frankly would rather hear witty rhymes about current pop culture events than dragged out rhymes about things we’ve heard before.
And you want to hear the serious shit? I guarantee it will be on the rest of the album. But when has he ever talked about the serious shit on intro silly songs? Do you not realize that it would be incredibly disrespectful to those he cared about if he just talked about losing these people on a upbeat carefree single?

The point is we want a good comedy single, the real slim shady is amazing and the beat is dope. I agree the last slim shady type single was the beginning of the end, encore was pretty terrible. I think he needs to drop the almost Indian accent?! What happened to the razor sharp lyrics tripped over rolling beats and bass, that west coast edge?! Pull the plug em, Pull the plug!!
