Age ain't nothing but a number, the older cats pee over most these young dudes anyway case in example, Ghostface, NAS, Jay-Z, Raekwon, Busta Rhymes, Mos Def, Rakim, Black Thought, GZA, Bun B, Scarface etc.

These younger cats need to actually need to get their game on point, and actually produce a decent emcee, besides Blu and Wale I ain't tipping my hat to any of them. I'm prettier and wittier than a lot of them, on a bad hair day.

None of these noveau cats will cut it anyway, they'll come and go like the wind, it's the true skool artists still holding down the fort, they can't be shifted, because they refuse to be budged.

Can ANYONE explain who the fuck put an age limit on hip hop music, this is the only genre where the listener is so IGNORANT they base things on age rather than the music the artist produces for you to listen too. Half the people on this blog werent even around in the so called '"golden years" of hip hop. Age has NOTHING to do with the quality of music and once we get off this tip maybe we can start appreciating what the art as a whole brings to the table.

I believe that the age of an emcee has now been extended greatly as evidenced by artists such as Jay-Z.

Hip-Hop as a genre and culture is still relatively young. I remember while growing up, it was fairly easy to spot the "old rappers trying to advance." It was the way that they spit. But now... gone are the days when an emcee's flow is a dead giveaway to his or her age.

If someone did not tell you Em or Nas's ages... I highly doubt that it would even be a factor.

Around a decade ago, I would have sworn to you that someone such as Jigga would not be able to be as relevant as he currently is. But as said, Hip-Hop is really in its infancy if you are around my age.

So that is why I posed the question Sherm - it was certainly not to go at you in any way.

It is amazing to [finally] see a time when Hip-Hop artists can now be just like the Rolling Stones, Aerosmith's, or Bon Jovi's. Still making great music, selling out shows, still winning awards, and still selling records.

Before, the genre was just too young. But it is crazy how it has evolved - and so quickly in its acceptance of an "older" emcee.

I for one think it is great. No one is telling Mick, Steven, or Jon to hang up their mics...

Why should it be any different for an emcee?

@ Sherm: So what's a prime age to retire in rap??? I thought that most emcees got better with time (the good ones at least) because they had more experiences to talk about. It seems that 30+ is taboo in hiphop or something.

"his face is blatantly photo shopped"
True, they fitted the Punisher's eyes in his face to make him appear more similar to the superhero.
Other than that I think it's a funny cover and I hope Em lives up to it Punishing every faker in the game.

well rakim hasnt put out a album since 99, so dont know how he's getting a pass on making music. snoop had a make over, think "shizzle". jay did kingdom come as his "remake" but well that CD sucked, so he went back to the AG hustler ways. nas got his spark back with either, but then dropped untitled, and well that speaks for it's self.

em's marketing has been a gimmick from the start, look at my name is, the video, the bleached hair(he has brown hair in real life). pretty much the only way white emcee's will sell is with a gimmick (asher:college/bubba:redneck) get the avg fans to buy, cause most the real heads are already checking and can recognize skills when they come along.

and em's not going to do '00 em numbers, no one will, not in this econ/music market. if he does 750K it will be a smash. i mean kanye only did like 450k with 808, and he can be argued as one of the biggest hiphop/pop stars out right now.
