We get it Common. You’re aim is to get money from all angles. But where do we draw the “this is overkill” line? I was with you when you started hawking Zune’s for Microsoft. Software clothing, I assume that was a part of a package deal. Now your “Only The Brave” fragrance for men with Diesel?
Survey says this eau de toilette is bound to be a K-Mart blue light special. If Puff’s candy ass can’t sell cologne, I highly doubt anyone will take the leap of faith to buy the Common x Diesel collabo that most likely smells like a spicy version of Jovan. And if he breakdances in the cologne’s commercial spots, I’ll be leading a protest march on Stoney Island.
But no resentment over here; he should collect his checks. My only advice would be careful in choosing endorsements & space them out, lest backlash begin.

Hey man, get that paper Com. I’d rather him sell watered-down cologne than cheap-ass liquor, or even worse wack-ass clothing that will be forgotten in less time than it took to design.

I mean what can you say…. the amount of cash he gets to do a commercial or movie or cologne would be an amount that of course you don’t say no too and and probably an amount that not many people make by doing a single event. So don;t get me wrong and think I’m hating on him. I dig common and have BOUGHT every one of his albums over the years. I support the guy. I just never saw movies and cologne coming. Jay-z I can see doing a commerical for heinekin, but after making diss tracks about people in movies what can you say?

I know I’ve been off the guy for a while… dude made a career about keeping it true to art, not selling out and being comitted to H.E.R. Then flips completely, most of his lyrics now are shit and revolve around cliches that he established.
Com used to be original and brought a fresh perspective to so many played out concepts. Guy used to shine with thought and mind. He’s brought no new light in almost a decade, he just plays off stuff and ideas he brought up a long time ago. He’s fat and lazy, no hunger any more.

Com kept it real for a loooooong time and in the process he kept it real broke (in the rap world, not the real world). So let him catch up.
But like Gotty said, pick what you endorse a little more carefully.
At the end of the day, he has to make sure his family is fed. So if he wants to sell cologne, chitlings, and the Gap so be it. I’d rather be called a sellout then doing sellGold commericals with Hammer and Ed MacMahon dead broke.
