Come Home Clean, Young Ras…
AUDIO By Gotty™ on April 27, 2009 at 7:31 pmIn May, Ras Kass will be coming home, having done the time for his crime.
After nearly 2 years of incarceration, West Coast lyricist Ras Kass is set to be released from jail late next month. Frequent producer/collaborator Domingo told AllHipHop.com that Ras Kass is scheduled to be freed on May 29.
The rapper, real name John Austin IV, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol in Los Angeles. Rumors were spread that he was jailed in 2007 for violating his parole by flying to Atlanta and attending the annual BET Awards. He was jailed shortly after he was seen freestyling in “Cipher 3” with Joell Ortiz, Flo, and Cassidy.
Who cares? Me that’s who!
Forget the losing battle that he fought with The Game. I think he was on E during that time in his life. Seriously, the hair & his clique are evidence that he was going through trying times. You have to hope he was under the influence of some substance.
Really though, as an alcoholic, I hope homeboy is able to get out & keep his liver clean, giving himself a chance to live & capitalize on some of his potential. In his honor, I’m cueing up “Kiss Of Death.”
“Got a b*tch from Philippines, with an emerald nose ring, Masturbating with a magazine…”

Yeah….Ras Kass always had talent..but just seems always at the wrong place at the wrong time type career..wish he would finally put it together..He murked the Game’s “Dreams” with his freestyle..peace
Big up to Razzy Kazzy man, he’s definitely one of my favourite lyricists. Soul On Ice is a fucking classic to me; he’s crazy underrated in the game. Slaughterhouse should pick him up once he gets out, that would be crazy!!!
ras kass + slaughtahouse = banana’s
I say yes and this isnt even a rumour…..fuck it….. i say it is a rumour because it seems so perfect.
kass+slaughtahouse in 09′

For some reason I always liked the hook better on this one
Soul On Ice got me through many a night in school. I must’ve written an albums worth of rhymes to the “Anything Goes” instrumental lol.
Ras is too much of a loose cannon to be in a group.
He still owes us those Horsemen & Golden State albums anyway.
the waterproof MC …
Ras will always be one of the illest in my book. Quite frankly, I’m not sure how anyone COULDN’T deem this dude on of the best lyricists ever after hearing him.
I remember reading an article in Blaze magazine way back in the day where he said he doesn’t record half of what he really wants to because it will probably go right over most of our heads. Somehow, I believe that.
Ah ^ I co sign all the above. I stated previous times in this forum most recently in Hip-Hop Confessions Ras is the Best West Coast MC ever.
Not the best artist but Best MC.
Yeah shout out to ya boy Tony Blair for A&R’n this record… Produced by DJ Khalil EARLY!!!!
Ya niggaz dont know about the WEST!!!!!
@PrplePimp -
yeah that version had a Beatles sample and we couldnt get it cleared, then we had to change the melody and words around as well -
I got soo much unreleased Rasy Kassy I might drop some shit soon!
oh and that other nigga on the record is this monkey named Sideline aka Scipio bka The Lost Angel pka X.O. now on Blackwallstreet
Imagine that
Van Gogh maybe one of the best albums to never be released.

@ ME
I say start with Soul On Ice and then move to Rasassination before you hit any of the mixtapes. Just my opinion though.
^ co-signing Mr. Howser’s remark.
So that’s what happened to him? I seriously didn’t know. I was thinking about why I didn’t hear anything from him last week. Can’t wait for the day he comes out. Get home safe Razzy. You’re one of my biggest inspirations.
@ ME
I concur with what Howser says. Start from the beginning and move forward.
I gotta say though that Rasassination is my personal favorite from Ras.
good look. bout to toss dat on the pod early! whose style wud yaw compare him 2?
For whomever said Ras in Slaughterhouse it’s funny because I can recall wondering what the connection was when Joey B said, “Ninjas don’t want trouble wit’ I, unless it’s Ras Kass before the D- double U-I.”
No disrespect to Masta Ace and the ([real]/first)
Slaughtahouse… back in the day ! 1993,
but if Budden / Crooked I / Royce5′9” / Joell Ortiz
are Slaughterhouse 09 and more
Rass Kass / Keith Murray / Canibus / Killa Priest
that was (a possible) Slaughterhouse 96/7/8/9’s !!!
good look. bout to toss dat on the pod early! whose style wud yaw compare him 2?
======================================
I’ve never been able to accurately compare Ras Kass to anyone else in the game.
I’d say he’s a “lyrical giant with swagg”.
Thats how it is in the hood,if you aint seen a brother in a couple of months, u know where he at!His most recent joint is fuego too. Institutionalized 2, its like a street album but its in the stores.
Ras Kass was ill 10 years ago…
