Rapper Jim Jones was arrested Sunday night on an outstanding warrant in New Jersey, and the hip hop star made sure all his fans were aware of the situation on Twitter.
The 32-year-old musician, whose real name is Joseph Guilermo Jones II, told his fans via his Twitter page that he got pulled over by police in Teaneck around 9:24 p.m.
Apparently as the events with authorities progressed, so did the tweets on his Twitter page.
“Just got pulled over by the boys,” he wrote after being pulled over. “Let’s see how this plays out.”
Jones, who gained notoriety with his smash hit “We Fly High,” was reportedly driving his 2007 black Bentley south on Teaneck Road and Cedar Lane when he was stopped by police. He was immediately arrested after officers discovered he had an outstanding warrant for an unpaid ticket in Paterson.
“Well, it didn’t go the way I wanted I’m in the precinct but I will have my phone they ain’t trippin’ they said just procedure,” the rapper tweeted to his 22,000 followers at 10:10 p.m. via his TwitterBerry.
Forty-three minutes later, when he was released from police custody, another update read: “Misses officer let me go the funny part was watching them have to count all the money in my pocket lol I must say they were very cool.”
As for the reason behind his arrest, he wrote “And it was a punk ass warrant from 2005 for 120 dollars.”
Teaneck police confirm Jones paid $120 for the ticket and was released. He was reportedly also issued a summons for driving without a front license plate.
The moral of the story? As Jones told his Twitter folllowers: “make sure you pay old tickets.”
