Any Huskie fans running around here ducking their heads this morning?

The No. 6-seeded Orange outlasted the No. 3 Huskies, 127-117, at Madison Square Garden in a test of endurance and adrenaline that will long reverberate in college basketball lore. The game is tied for the second longest in Division I (Cincinnati and Bradley played seven overtimes in 1981).

The game ended at 1:22 a.m. on Friday morning, with eight players having fouled out and Syracuse’s leading scorer, Jonny Flynn (34 points), having logged 67 minutes. The game was 10 minutes short of completing two whole games.

Syracuse somehow survived the first five overtimes despite never holding a lead, perhaps the most amazing statistical nugget on a night filled with them.

March. Madness.

I’m kind of pissed because while everybody else is chilling on the couch watching games all day & night, I’ve got to travel to Austin for the showcase. The best time of the year, the time when basketball is perpetually on TV…and I won’t be able to sit on my hump & enjoy it.

Ugh.
