“Still Notorious…”
Everything Else By Contra™ on March 9, 2009 at 10:45 amDear Christopher Frank White Wallace,
Yeah, it’s your boy Contra™, I just wanna holla. It’s been 12 years now since that fateful day and it’s mind-boggling that you’ve been gone so long. I’ll keep this brief because everything to say has been said or will be said by others closer to you.
In your life and the time after, you touched a lot of lives, moved a lot of crowds, inspired movements, communities, cultures and people. It would have been nice if you made some music I could play for the urchins besides “Juicy” and “Sky Is The Limit” without having to put them on suicide watch, but still, your skill is irrefutable and we are at a great loss.
Brooklyn misses you. Hip-Hop misses you. Rest in Peace.
Before I part, one favor. I know Puffy is your peoples and all, but do something about your boy. At least tell him to stop doing to Twitter what he did to Hip-Hop. While you’re at it tell him to stop tampering with your classics. I’ll reserve my words and judgments on the movie for now and instead lift this here lighter in your memory.
One.

*Cranking “Suicidal Thoughts” extra loud today. That and “uhhh…uhhh….uhhh, c’mon…sicker than you’re average…”
Nice, TC.
Very nice.
Although I own almost all of this stuff (The Brooklyn’s Finest VLS is downloading now) hopefully someone will come along who doesn’t know about B.I.G. and can dive in head first.
For that person, I suggest you go in the order that TC posted them.
I was a terrorist of public school era, bathroom passes
cuttin classess squeezin asses
smoking blunts was a daily routine, since 13
a chubby nigga on the scene
I use to have my “tre-deuce” and my “deuce-deuce”
in my bubble goose, now I got the mack in my napsack
lounging black, smokin sacks up in Ac’s and sidekicks
with my sidekicks rockin fly kicks…..
That was my jidiont back in high school, we had a cool lil two step to it.
“ha ha ha ha ha, check out this bizarre, rapper style used by me, the BIG…i put my key you put ya key in, money we’ll be seein, will reach the fuckin ceiling…check it…”
best intro to a verse ever?

Iunno. The simple phrase of “Armed & Dangerous!” always ignites goosebumps…
Kick In The Door (J. Dilla Remix)
===================
WOW! That’s one of the better blends I’ve heard. Almost sounds like Biggie wrote to that beat. New music from Dilla and Big has been sorely missed. That Illa J album didn’t quite do it for me.
hmmmm….what biggie jams should i bump on my lunch break?
Whaddup TSS crew
B.I.G. day huh..well let me add my two cents
During my electric days, I worked on 3 music videos for the late great Notorious One….”Big Poppa, Warning, and Get Money feat Junior Mafia”. Big was so cool. He had an amazing presence about him. It’s true when they say people were were attracted to dude..no homo!
I remember when we shot the Big Poppa video at Nell’s Night Club on W.14th St in Manhattan (for those who don’t know where Nell’s is let alone W. 14th st). We were setting up for the shot when BIG rushes to the bar to meet old girl (who was an “exotic dancer”) and mushes dude in the green shirt out of his way, who I later found out was some “rap artist”. Green shirt guy’s claim to fame is letting himself get mushed by BIG, what an honor! Anyway, Busta leaves the scene and BIG proceeds to rap to ole girl. Anyway, right before that setup, I stepped to BIG because he was dolo aka no crew around him and told him how much I bought his cd right before Tower Records closed that night. He was like “ok ok” and asked me what my favorite song was and of course I said “Unbelievable” and said the first two bars of the song for him. Classic! He dug it, gave me a pound and then walked over for his close up…lol
My other story is a two-parter of sorts. During the lunch break of the set of “Warning” me and my two other co-horts (no names on set!!!) would often have “blunch” ya dig? So during our “blunch” session we notice BIG and the JM crew near the pool having “blunch” as well. So we stroll over because Lil Cease waves my “no name” co-hort over to where they were to join in. Guess Cease noticed the smoke coming from our 3-man cipher. So we join “their” cipher and pass around like a cold. Now I gotta keep it PG because my daughter is at the age where she knows my blog page and may read it anyday even though I know deep down she probably won’t anytime soon. Anyway, I hit what BIG and the crew had and I’m like “What’s this” as in what type of “wrapping” this was and one of JM says “A dutch”. From that day one on, I never looked back. It was dutch until eternity, vanilla that is. So much that my email was once dutchplease@aol.com which is no more by the way. END OF PART ONE.
I don’t think I’m going to post part two because it involves Faith and after working with her on the “Letter to BIG” video I’ll just leave it alone…unless i’m pushed to the edge.
As always..RMF!!!
Reem aka Saul Goode.
damn son technically the greatest rapper of all time but since he died too early in his career i cant truly name him the GOAT
rest in peace BIG
The crazy thing about Big was that he died at the end of the first quarter, and we got THIS much respect for him. NO other rapper can say that. Just imagine if he got the chance to play the whole game

well I can.
R.I.P. to the best that ever did it.
From 93-97 BIG may have had the greatest 4 year run in Music History.
In terms of Talent, Quality of Work, Performance, Sales Influence, Impact, Innovation, He had it all. I got to see him perform twice at different stages in his Career and he delivered on Both.
One was for the Movie The Show at the Armory then with JM in Jersey

i feel you man im a huge BIG fan and i pretty much agree with it, and whether it’s his 12th death year or not no disrespect i just cant call someone the true GOAT off two albums, if he had been around for just one more album and it was on the quality of RTD or LAD then damn straight id say it. but neway anybody who doesnt have BIG in their top three, their opinion on hip hop doesnt count.
BIG is the greatest No Rap
lol, i read that whole shit Kareem.
Now i wanna hear the Faith story.
Cosign Gotty. I’m dead curious.
Cosign Gotty & Contra as well…burn some bridges here Kareem!! lol.
R.I.P. to Biggie. No other words need to be said.
12 years!!!! Wow… where does the time go?? Although I can name a few MC’s who I feel were nicer “lyricist”, I can’t think of any who were as VERSATILE as BIG.. MUCH RESPECT
Dope stories Kareem! thanks for sharing. and co-sign wanting to hear more! haha
oh, and dutches all day
@ phillmatic…best four year run does not go to biggie. sry, but the rza has to take the cake on that one, try 7 classic albums…not to mention long kiss goodnight
R.I.P.
god bless big.
@ kareem….u can’t be teasing the fam and then don’t put out. no homo….pause…and whatever lingo i missed out saying at this point.
cotdamn…the homie just left us hangin.
thats cold.
“….cause the greatest rapper of all time died on March 9th…..”
~Canibus
R.I.P. Big
Big Steve RZA is a good pic but RZA + 8 more made Wu those 7 classics. BIG was a One man Gang. and if you really talking about beats Kanye from 03-07 is rivaling the RZA Pound for Pound
@Reem c’mon Fam Faith just wrote a book talking about abortions and getting the Chris Brown treatment. I few more stories won’t hurt. Break Bread with Fam
Rest in peace B.I.G.
ps.
I co-sign Phillmatic….
That tra lee verse was way beyond any verse he ever did, besides maybe ‘cant stop the reign’ when he made shaq’s album sound like a real lp…
