This week, Cam’ron says there will be no Dipset reunion but I’m not buying it. Mainly because he told TC different a few weeks ago. Then you have Jimmy, who repeatedly denied ever talking to Cam on the phone, only to finally have his memory restored & admitting to Funk Flex that the convo did take place. Simply speculating Read the rest of this entry »

Just about every post I create takes a circuitous route. Listening to Scarface’s Greatest Features led me to go back & check DJ Keyz’s Scarred For Life mixtape from a few years back and ended up back @ Get Screwed Up, the Keyz created mixtape of all Bun features & guest appearances.
While LC chose Meth, I’ve already said that Bro. Bernard would receive a portion of my Fantasy Rapper budget. For me, the decision is made abundantly clear once you listen to Bun run roughshod over Jeezy’s “Trap Or Die.” But if you should happen to be a nonbeliever or looking for further proof, this mix is for you. As a guest star, what Bun always manages to do is stay on topic while completely stealing the show.

And all this time, I knew these guys were still producing & influencing, but had no idea they were still working as a trio.
“Nuclear Evolution: The Age of Love blends next-level production with a unique and unconstrained blend of street wit, dirty-sex talk, tall stories, and intergalactic future sounds, and is set to become essential listening for the summer of 2009.
‘There is something powerful about the Number 3. A triangle is architectures most structurally sound shape,” explains Keith. “And there is a sense of brotherhood among us, the strong sense of purpose we all share in our will to cleanse the proverbial palette of music!’ “
That’s right. New SA-RA album, The Age of Love : Nuclear Revolution, just in time for summer. Two discs @ that. Via Ubiquity Records. In the meanwhile, they’re currently working on Diddy’s Last Train To Paris along with material for Bilal & Sleepy Brown, all the while influencing Kanye’s sartorial choices.
Holler @ us, Taz!

I was planning on writing a detailed review of DOOM’s new album Born Like This, while feeding you lines that could easily be picked apart once transcribed. Instead Mos Def did it for me. While these lines that he is spitting on this video are not off of his new album, they are exactly the kinds one finds upon listening to the new album, whether it’s the first time you throw it on or the 40th. A lot of debate goes on in these here internet boards about whether DOOM is the greatest thing since sliced bread, or the equivalent of a rotten bologna sandwich you could find in an old lunchbox. While the debate will most likely never cease, as an avid DOOM follower, I will try and explain what Mos means in this video when he says “I understand.” Read the rest of this entry »

Winter’s dying down thankfully (Southwest U.S. readers disregard) so I had to re-up with another batch of gear picks for you guys. This time around, I enlisted Felson & Jason, the editors of SwipeLife, a men’s lifestyle website. After reading their work, I honestly had to step back and admit, I don’t know jack when it comes to next level schwag. Thankfully we got them here to break down their picks for Spring ’09.
Here’s what they have to say about their season selections:
Spring can only mean three things – sunny weather, more outdoor activities and pretty girls in skirts. And when it comes to those pretty girls in skirts, you definitely should know how to clean up if you want to get noticed at least. Spring weather will always call for brighter colors, but you don’t have to look like a bag of Skittles to get your fashion statement across. Remember to go light on the hues and always mix with neutrals for balance. Earth tones never fail as well, so play it safe within the spectrum of tans and greens if you’re unsure.
HATS — For Spring, try on lighter colors and new patterns like seersucker or summer plaid. Don’t like fitteds? Try snap backs, five panels or drivers caps. Here are some of our choices.
1. 3sixteen – Grey Seersucker Fitted
2. Supreme – Summer Plaid Five Panel
3. Brixton – Hooligan Multi-plaid Houndstooth Drivers Cap
4. Quiet Life – Square Pattern Five Panel
5. New Era – City Script 59 Fifty (New York Mets)
6. New Era – World Baseball Classic (Panama)
TEES — Tees are essential because it’ll probably be the most comfortable thing you’ll wear throughout the season. Pick graphics that Read the rest of this entry »
“… To Forgive Divine Is At Your Discretion.
During these troubled times, it looks like no one’s Recession proof as Marc Ecko’s facing the possibility of bankruptcy.
Ecko has hired investment bank Peter J. Solomon to help refinance at least $170 million in debt owed to two key business partners, sources told The Post. With lenders scarce, sources say his empire may be dismantled as he sells off assets to pay creditors. Sources said Marc Ecko’s executives and bankers alike have been lobbing phone calls to rivals, trying to unload the company’s brands in exchange for cash. The dire scenario is a far cry from a few years ago, when Marc Ecko had entertained potential offers from Jones Apparel Group and Tommy Hilfiger. At one time, both firms were weighing bids for Marc Ecko in the $500 million range, according to one source.
Regardless of whether you have $10 in your bank account or $1,000,000 people can usually find a sliver of sympathy for the individual down on their luck. It’s a little harder to do Read the rest of this entry »
No relevancy; I’ve just always loved this picture.
Every job has a “storyteller,” the one person who always has some tall tale to tell for any given moment or situation. This morning while taking a smoke break (because if you’re looking for your job’s storyteller, they’re probably outside smoking & telling the best stories not meant for large groups or mixed company), I happened to ask our resident Aesop about a “girlfriend” he was “dating” around September of last year. I use quotations because girlfriend & dating should be used loosely here, as she started a three month stay in the county right as they started dating. He’s telling me some other story & keeps referring to her as “the girl I was dating last summer” and I’m getting the hint that they’re no longer dating. To spur him along from the first story into another, I ask “Hey, you cut her loose or she cut you loose?” Read the rest of this entry »
