While the majority of you didn’t bother to check for the album — let alone the review, Z-Ro’s not letting something petty like a buzz window get in the way of promoting his 2008 effort Crack. Thankfully, the four months and change since the album dropped allowed him to buckle down and pick out two of the best tracks to advertise. Read the rest of this entry »

Since the inception of the internet, DJ’ing as an art form has seemingly lost it’s way.
Today’s generation of “DJ’s” seem to be more concerned with screaming over verses and marketing more than showcasing the music. Thankfully, DJ Crazy Toones, one of the pioneer DJ’s from the early nineties, is Read the rest of this entry »

Ronald “Flip” Murray is a name I haven’t seen in a long time.
I remember when he had a little mean streak on an undermanned Seattle Sonics club. Even though they struggled he got a minor buzz during that run. I think he averaged something like 19 and 5 by the All-Star break. A couple of teams and even more years later, Flip is still kickin’ around in the league as a backup guard in Atlanta. As you can see, he drops Read the rest of this entry »
Capone-N-Noreaga Hanging With Loud.com
Opting to go with an independent label over a major has its advantages when it comes to artistic freedom, not marketing and promotion. In Capone-N-Noreaga’s case, more than likely the majority of fans didn’t know they were releasing an album, let alone as early as March 17th. Too hard for MTV, not Black enough for BET, recognize the new model of marketing as Channel 10 hones in on the net. Read the rest of this entry »
We previewed a glimpse of the raw footage of this when we chopped it up on Pill back during Grind Time Week. Now, MTV2′s feature on ATL is either hittin’ the airwaves as a part of ‘Atlanta Music Week.’ Above, Killer Mike speaking on the reported Underground Atlanta mixtape with Bobby Creekwater, Don P, Yung Ralph, OJ Da Juiceman, Dem Getaway Boyz and Pill. If this joint materializes, watch me cop three copies.
After the break, another clip with Killer Mike @ SuperSounds in Atlanta, breaking down some of music as well as zone history as it relates to shopping for music. Read the rest of this entry »
About ten years ago, Percy Miller had it all.
The hottest rap label on the planet (an indie to boot). A family of plaque-producing rappers. His own clothing line. Movies released in both theaters and straight-to-VHS format, accompanied by platinum soundtracks nonetheless. A mobile cell-phone company. His own camouflage-clad talking doll (I had one). A sports management company, which was home to first round draft pick and future stoner-hall-of-famer, Ricky Williams. His custom spot on the NAACP. If you’re still not impressed, how’s about this….the man played for the Charlotte Hornets in 1998.
But, if you thought there was nothing for the Master to accomplish, you were wrong. He’s added another Read the rest of this entry »
Man listen.
I know there’s a difference between fashion & personal style. I generally don’t “judge” other dudes sartorial choices. None of that. I can hear the “who cares what another man does?” comments coming. I don’t care because I gotta know…
…does this dude have a conk or a dry version of a wave nouveau in his hair?

Sunday is the day of reckoning for NCAA Division I basketball teams, as the selection committee unveils the field for March Madness. Nike iD decided to get in on the fun and hold it’s own tournament of sorts.
With March Madness about to kick off, Nike iD is sponsoring a pretty cool tournament of their own. Both V.I.P.’s and regular Joe’s have submitted a ton of Nike iD concoctions at the 21 Mercer store in New York and at the Montalban in Los Angeles in what will become a East Coast vs. West Coast battle of the kicks. Starting tomorrow, 32 Nike iD sneakers designed by 16 V.I.P.’s and 16 lucky sneakerheads who’s designs were selected will begin to face-off in a bracket-style survival of the illest tournament.
Man listen. It’s real simple.
Trackstar said for me to drop this teaser mix on you fools. It’s a prelude to what you’ll hear next Friday night in Austin.
I looked @ the schedule of shows for that Friday night because I figured I might as well catch another show. Bar none, ours is THE best show on Friday. The bill is lovely, if I do say so myself. B.o.B. is headlining. Eskay and our Crew will be in the building. To quote eskay, “RSVP now or hate yourself later.”
Nuff said. Tracklisting & link after the break. Read the rest of this entry »
