Apparently, Lupe is now actively particpating on Twitter & making all kinds of pronouncements — changing his album title, all but confirming his affiliation with Japanese Cartoon, and his recording proces — you know, the general array of crap that some people seem to be interested in hearing about.

There was a time when I really wanted artists to take a more active role in embracing & using the internet. Now, the more they blog/Twitter the less enthused I am about the whole idea. While I like the insight & shared info, there’s part of me that just wants to have my artists make music & leave all the bemusings to us, the bloggers & fans. Perhaps, they acknowledge remarks said online, taking them into account as they create, but don’t fully engage themselves with things like Twitter allows. When they do that, we get updates on which chicken shack is better & “Dear John” letters to the game that are later recanted.
Anyways, TSS on Twitter > Lupe on Twitter > Diddy on Twitter.

am i the only one who picks up the phone and calls a person to see what they are doing any more? twitter is like a big brother for common folk. guess when people dont have shit going for them in their day2day they have to follow what celeb’s ate for lunch.

with twitter and status updates. people are highly over valuing their self importance, and what people need or want to know. the more digital connected we get the less we are connected in real life. who needs to talk when you can click twice and see mundane details about some one.
all this connectedness is a double edged sword. on one hand it feels that we’re all more in touch but then i look around the room and there’s no one there. it’s crazy to me that i have all these phone numbers of people that i call, usually getting their voicemail, but then i log onto facebook and see many of those same people in my ‘online friends’.
i’m kinda old school and would rather pick up the phone and hear from folks but i also respect the busy lives that we all lead. facebook is cool for bringing me closer to my people who i lost touch with and/or don’t get to see because we’re in different places and has enhanced my relationships with some people. but twitter, that is just way too much for me. give me the highlights, i don’t need the play-by-play!
i’ma go back to writing letters and skip all this electronic communication. most folks don’t get shit in the mail but bills anyway. we wouldn’t feel so busy if we would simply log off our computers more often.
