Popular Musician…
AUDIO By TC on March 9, 2009 at 2:55 pmLet’s face it: the kid Flo Rida could wrap syllables around the sounds of crickets chirping. His music may be more Pop than a twelve-pack of Pepsi®, but I’ll be damned if it doesn’t make you dance.
Apparently the Route Of Overcoming Struggle leads to the dance floor. Can’t be mad at that — especially when this is the outcome.

Sounds like Low mixed with Eiffel 65’s I’m Blue. I’ve only a heard of total of 4 Flo-Rida songs and they’ve all sounded the same.
who give’s a fuck about Florida???
^^^
Obviously the whole world. What’s Tashan Dorsett doing these days?
Same flow, Flo Rida
how does he pick his beats? its like there all bangers no matter how garbage he is
I’m not sure why people are so against Flo Rida, he’s definitely made some good music. Sure he has his fair share of pop shit but last time I checked the reason you become an artist is to be relevant and get money. Show off your skills on those mixtapes (which Flo Rida has done believe it or not) plus I think his flow is dirty.
@ Andriulli: Sup with them nude flicks of that cooler bird you know, we still think you’re woofing fam, lol.
Floor Rida Dance Flo Music
Even though TC’s obviously a fan, I can’t get with this cat. Aside from “Elevator” I can’t say I like anything he’s done. This guy just comes off so corny to me but he’s laughing all the way to the bank so that tells you just how much weight my opinion holds.
Fan is such a strong word Amp.
I was never a fan of Nelly, never bought any of his albums, but I also never sat up there and wondered why so many liked him or bought his albums, etc. These type of cats do what do, make hits and what not. I can’t be mad @ it and from my experiences, some of the “wackest” songs actually sound good in their proper setting.
Ok, fan is a strong word. My thing is, Nelly has a personality you can connect with. Who the eff is Flo-Rida? He makes club music but that’s it. He has no character, nothing to distinguish him from the pack. Hey, Yung Berg may be a dick, but at least you have an idea of who he is as a person. Flo-Rida is kinda boring.
who give’s a fuck about Florida???
Not Me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
his hairline sets him apart from the rest of them.
@ Amp
I actually consider it a testament to the days where rappers let the music speak for themself. The web wasn’t big like that when Nelly reigned supreme so he wasn’t doing a million vlogs with him going to the corner stores in STL to buy a pack a Starburst just like Flo ain’t. I think there’s too much emphasis on personality in the viral market instead of actually concentrating on making sure you’re putting out the best possible product you can create (see Joe Budden.)
So Flo defintely could benefit from a couple more “big” interviews but at the moment, he’s mastering his lane which is making music for the trendy crowd to dance to.
^
co-sign majorly sick of these lame ass rappers with too much time on their hands talkin irrelevant bull shit nobody cares bout, budden is a prime example GET OUT SOME MORE STOP SHOWIN US YOUR WIFEY WE GET IT SHES A DIME PIECE be a fuckin man and stop showin her off like shes some trophy you insecure prick
(ps im a fan of joe budden’s, MUSIC)
The only good song that he has ever made is the one that goes “I don’t want no cake on my birthday/I want my cake everyday”.
@ TC: “What’s Tashan Dorsett doing these days?” - LMFAO!!!
@ Barry: Real talk fam! I was thinking about that the other day; why is this ninja showing off his woman’s ass??? What does this have to do with music??? I mean, I love looking at fat asses but if you’re going to shoot some footage make it relevant.
But Nelly didn’t blow up in a viral era. Dude’s personality came through in his performances & in the music. Flo-Rida reminds me of Fabolous. He may have talent but the lack of a musical persona/identity keeps him from being as big of a star as he should be. With the numbers Flo-Rida’s doing, how is he still an enigma. Not that I really wanna know who Flo-Rida is, but it would help if I did.
@ Amp: I don’t know about that Flo/Fab comparison my dude.
^ I’m only comparing their lack of personality. Flo-Rida wishes he could rap like Fab.
@ Amp: I understand in what context, but I’d have to disagree with you that both Flo Rida and Fab share some sort of empty, dry, boring persona.
So where has Fab shown his personality?
It certainly hasn’t been on wax.
Hey, Yung Berg may be a dick, but at least you have an idea of who he is as a person.

Yung Berg is the cat who continually donates his jewelry to charity, right?

Agree w/you on the Fab comparison, Amp.
Other than “hustler”, “gangster”, “money maker”, etc, I have NO idea who John Jackson is.
Not a prerequisite, mind you, but connecting w/ your fans on more than a flossy, superficial level never hurt…
Show me your Painnnnnn!!!!!
Homie a rap but it’s not my cup Henny
I imagine all the housewives with too much make-up on and fake boobs will be working out to this in the step class at the local YMCA in Evans, GA.
This thread about rappers’ personalities ain’t gangsta.
^Cuz gansta’s don’t ask questions [about personalities].
to quote andriulli25:
“how does he pick his beats? its like there all bangers no matter how garbage he is”
Him and Rick Ross. But screw it, I mess with RAWSE. He is steppin it up. And really, I didn’t care for the beat to “Low”. “Elevator” on the other hand…

The “personality discussion” was for those of “us” who don’t gargle with gun powder and count kilos in our sleep.

werd lol.
I’d love to add something to this conversation, but I think an acknowledgment of how entertaining it has been is sufficient. Good job people…
OK. Now I have something to add. Elevator was fire. But this new habit he’s developed of just jacking memorable hooks from old trance/techno hits for the spine of his songs is complete hogwash. Basically Puff on X. That said, even Just Blaze jacked the corniest sample ever for that “Live Your Life” shit sandwich - see how that ended up. The girl on the hook of that song ended up getting beat the fuck up by a light-skinded ass-clown. Remember you read it here first when “Wynter” gets drop-kicked by karma.

LMAO! You wrong for that b.
lmao dude went hard.
I saw one of those quick spotlights on MTV and this dumb muthafucka explained his name to the interviewer and I repeat ” I just wanted to represent where I’m from so I broke it down into two syllables FLO- RIDA. Me and wifey just shook our heads and changed the channel.
@ OED: which rappers’ personalities do you enjoy the most then…?
