It looks like my joy from the weekend has carried over into Monday. First, word leaks of a new SRC project, and now, El Michels is finally releasing a complete physical version of their Wu-inspired recordings. They’ll be dropping Enter The 37th Chamber, available 4.21 via Fat Beats Records.

I’ve been a follower for a minute, dating back to the Sounding Out The City and Falling Off The Reel, as they always manage to take things up a notch in the funk category. Listening to their music, especially their Wu-takes, it’s almost like traveling back in time to place where musicians (the kind that play instruments) ruled the roost. Part of me even feels that if RZA could play all the instruments that we often hear in his production, this would be it. If you check their bio, you’ll see that saxophonist/organist Leon Michels and producer/engineer Jeff Silverman have always been putting in work, having blessed the likes of Jay, Adele & Amy.

I have most of these either in mp3 or promo CDs/singles form. But to have them all together in one physical collection = good business. And for this, I am thankful.
