“Enter The 37th Chamber…”
Everything Else By Gotty™ on March 30, 2009 at 12:43 pmIt looks like my joy from the weekend has carried over into Monday. First, word leaks of a new SRC project, and now, El Michels is finally releasing a complete physical version of their Wu-inspired recordings. They’ll be dropping Enter The 37th Chamber, available 4.21 via Fat Beats Records.
I’ve been a follower for a minute, dating back to the Sounding Out The City and Falling Off The Reel, as they always manage to take things up a notch in the funk category. Listening to their music, especially their Wu-takes, it’s almost like traveling back in time to place where musicians (the kind that play instruments) ruled the roost. Part of me even feels that if RZA could play all the instruments that we often hear in his production, this would be it. If you check their bio, you’ll see that saxophonist/organist Leon Michels and producer/engineer Jeff Silverman have always been putting in work, having blessed the likes of Jay, Adele & Amy.
I have most of these either in mp3 or promo CDs/singles form. But to have them all together in one physical collection = good business. And for this, I am thankful.

This is why you are the best in the game.
Bring the muthafuckin’ ruckus
I caught them at The Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival a couple summers ago. They’re really good.

LOL, nah, that’s eskay.
I’m gonna plan my summer around catching a few shows. I want to see/hear these dudes in a lounge somewhere. it’ll be a real life embodiment of what this site is named for…only if said lounge allows me to smoke as well.
This is the Wu cover band we’re talking about here , right?
I lost that mixtape in the HD Crash of ‘08.
Shit was pretty dope.
Copped.
anyone got the .rar of this?
I would search, but a ninja at work right now.
Now that cover truly is on some Sir Run Run Shaw type inspired ish. Nice!

LOL! Dude said it as if it was on par with the Great Depression. I needed that laugh. Thanks Amp.
Finally! I’ve been waiting for another El Michel’s Affair release. You just cured my Monday. Thanks, Gotty.
Dude HD crashes are like deaths. You remember those moments w/distinction. I can name files that I’ve never been able to find again as a result of various crashes, how long it took me to replace the shits, etc.
I’ve got several diff EM discs and my fair share of mp3s. But i want another physical cd of new material so this is being ordered…unless the good folks @ the label want to send me a copy for the free.
Who am I kidding? I’ll still buy a copy even if i get a free one.
PJ’s from Afar…? On CD? Please?
